What do you guys think, I need some help, sick of finishing in the semi finals every year!

BACKS -
Goddard, C Cornes, Milburn, Lockyer, Malceski, Wojcinski, Raines (Jamison, Suban)

MIDS -
Judd, Ablett, Cousins, Rich, Knights, Robinson (Cook, Beams)

RUCKS -
Cox, Campbell (Cordy, Jacobs)

FORWARDS -
Pavlich, Richardson, Roughead, Houlihan, Newton, Hansen, Hentschel(Ziebell, Sidebottom)

Looking through the squads here I feel my ruck division is too weak. Everyone seems to have at least 2 decent rucks. At the moment I have:

Cox - Leunberger - Naitanui - Currie

Would it be woth dropping Leunberger and Naitanui and replacing them with Kruze and one of the minium $ rookies?

Yes.

But even Cox and Kreuzer would be too weak. McIntosh should be your minimum cheap 2nd ruck. Maric as a last option if you're completely stretched.

Just my view, but the rucks need to be done right from Rd 1. You don't want to waste trades on them.

Cheers - looks like I will have to scrounge up another 50k from somewhere. I'm guessing the easiest place would be the MF where Imy cheapest starting player is 257k

Milburn-Age and injuries means he won't improve this season, IMO.
Wojac-He is not a big ball winner, he is not a DTer.
Campbell-Who?
Newton-Horrible footballer, constantly looks disinterested, get him out.

Hopefully that gives you some thing to think about!

I guess you know the risks on Drummond so there is no point preaching them hear. Good luck with him!

Peronally I dont see Ryder as winning lots of ball, obviously you have a different opinion on this?

My turn...

Ablett, Dalziell, Gibbs, Knights, Otten, Anthony. Robinson, Beams.

Cox, McIntosh. Jacobs, Spencer.

Deledio, Didak, Harvey, Higgins, Skipworth, Krakouer, Yarran. Ziebell, Brown.

Opinions, criticisms, helpful comments, praise would be appreciated! Thanks.

This is my team at the moment. I can't stop tinkering!

Chaplin (PA) Raines (Rich) Grimes (Mel) Suban (Fre)

Reserves: Petrenko (Ade) Silvester (Rich)

Mid: Corey (Gee) Green (Mel) Cross (WB)

Tuck (Haw) Knights (Ade) Burgoyne S (PA)

Reserves: Meyer (PA) Cockie (WC)

Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. I've tried to pick a couple of different players to other teams and i think they can do the job.

Let me know what you think.

I was really stuck for decent mid price defender there. I suppose I could get another rookie and upgrade a forward, but I think Ryder should get enough of the ball to pay the rent, but we shall see.

Happy to take the risk with Drummond, I think he could have a very big season.

Thoughts on my team please? I'm never happy with it >_<

DEF: Fisher, Cornes, Bock, McPhee, Adcock, Houlihan, Raines (Hill, Petrenk)

MID: Swan, Tuck, Gibbs, Tuck, Hasleby, L.Anthony (Robinson, Beams)

RUCK: Cox, McIntosh (Spencer, Pyke)

FWD: Pav, Franklin, Gian, D.Thomas, Higgins, Skippy, T.Walker (M.Brown, Hogan)

Im a bit iffy on Dale Thomas and McPhee...and having Hill on the bench

:)

My first attempt at a team with no rookies starting.

Goddard, Waite, Birchall, S.Stevens, Houlihan, Geary, Raines
Hill, Broughton

Pendlebury, Gibbs, Wells, C.Morton, T.Tuck, Hasleby
Rich, Robinson

Hille, Bradley
Currie, Spencer

Didak, Giansiracusa, L.Davis, Sylvia, Higgins, Skipworth, Krakouer
Ziebell, M.Brown

I consider the 12 bolded players to be keepers, so I'm pretty happy in that regard. And I also really like my bench.

I'm considering Collier or Grimes instead of Geary, and McIntosh or Maric instead of Bradley. But I think Kepler could be a good pick this year. Should play all 22 games, and when he isn't rucking should spend more time up forward.

You could argue that this team doesn't have enough captaincy options, but it's just a matter of picking the right player each week. I'd be looking at getting a certain captain option as one of my first upgrades, so I could more than make do with rotating my captain for the first 5 or 6 weeks.

s.stevens,geary,c.morton,bradely,l.davis,krakouer all very poor optionshttp://www.bigfooty.com/forum/images/icons/icon13.gif

Hi guys, I along with a group of mates are having an "Even Stevens" league where we all start with the same team at the start of the season.
Then we can make changes to our teams as we like throughout the season.
The league has many first year newbies from the UK & Ireland so the team is a little underdone at the moment.
Although the selection process is in it's infancy we currently have come up with a first draft of this team below.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I don't even remember making that team, let alone posting it. But anyway I think all those players you listed are good selections.

Scott Stevens will be switching between attack and defence, and could easiley average around the 80 mark. He takes a lot of marks, so doesn't need a heap of disposals to get good scores. An increase in goals wont hurt either.

Jarryn Geary is cheap, and his NAB Cup form has been good. Should play first up for Saints, and as long as he plays will increase in money. What more do you want from a 190k player?

Cale Morton is a ball magnet, and could average 80 - 85. And at a bit over 300k, is a mid range option who will only require one trade to upgrade to a gun. A better option than someone like Masten in my opinion.

Kepler Bradley will play 22 games, and will rotate between the ruck and forward line. Averaged 67 from limited game time last year. A unique option around his price who could average 75, so he will make money and wont require a heap of trades to upgrade.

Leon Davis will have a huge year. A lot more midfield time, and even up forward he racks up the touches. Has lacked consistency, but should only get better.

Nathan Krakouer is a sub 200k forward, who should get game time. Like Geary, what more do you want?

With 53K in the bank i have room to move a little so suggestions would be great.

Looks pretty good, I reckon you could pump a bit more cash into your mids, though.

Someone like Kerr is more of a SC player, and Im sure with the spare cash youve got you could upgrade him to someone better. Having said that, Ive just noticed you have managed to clone Ziebell and have him play in 2 positions. Nice going!

But seriously, u might have a bit too much cash on the bench, get a $86k player instead of Ziebell/skippy to give urself more options.

I'd drop Pearce or Haselby and start a rookie in the mids. Use the money to upgrade a mid to an ABC. That team as 12-13 keepers? so taking one out for a rookie could make it more crucial for good trades for the style of play.
Oh yea and Brennan won't play for first couple of rounds.

Green= current locks
Gold= potential locks
Blue = cash cow (to upgrade)

B: Goddard, C.Cornes, Lockyer, Drummond, Houlihan, A.Raines, Grimes (Rance, Petrenko)
C: Selwood, S.Tuck, Gibbs, Kerr, Foley, Rich (Sidebottom, Davenport)
R: Cox, McIntosh (Currie, Trengrove)
F: Deledio, Giansiracusa, S.Johnson, Roughead, Higgins, Skipworth, Ziebell (Gumbleton, Walker)

+ $30,200 to play with

I figure if I attain a fairly poor 50% strike rate with the 6 potential locks (my money is on gibbs, foley and roughead) I will still only need to upgrade 3, and with trading the other 7 cash cows + an allowance for 5 injuries
and 5 trades of bench rookies to finance the upgrading of cash cows, I should have roughly enough trades to field a full team of 350k+ players by finals time.

You have got to be joking?
Who cares about ABC, not every team needs one in there team, they will drop down in price.
I totally agree with you on starting a rookie instead of Pearce/Haselby but I think they need to upgrade there forwards eg. Brennan who wont play the first few rounds.
