In picking my side I have tried to pick a few players who I believe will go up early and quickly - allowing me to upgrade them to premiums - they are S Butler, B McGlynn and J Reiwoldt.

Side:

Goddard, C Cornes, Lockyer, Adcock, Houlihan, Raines, S Hill - Petrenko, Broughton

Ablett, Dalziell, J Selwood, Gibbs, S Butler, D Rich - Zeibell, L Anthony

Cox, Kreuzer - Spencer, Jacobs

Pavlich, Richo, Buchanan?, J Reiwoldt, B McGlynnm, Higgins, Skipworth - Yarran GUmbleton

Got 50K in the bank....

THoughts?

Generic. Best word to describe over half the teams in this thread. Looks like there will be teams with identical sides. Although you can't blame them as these generic sides will no doubt do well.

Thoughts?

Definitely can't tell your a freo supporter through your dream team :p

Most of it looks pretty good, although I believe Ballantyne wont be playing till round 5-6 so I'd swap him with Ziebell who will get games. Also swap out De Boer, having a 75k rookie who won't play games in a midfield cash cow spot is like blasphemy around these parts.

DeBoer just got elevated to the senior list... Will probably swap him for Adam Cockie if he gets rookie upgraded now waters is on the LTI List.

Ziebell is still trying to break into the 22 for R1 right? That + Laidley + Liam Anthony makes me think Sidebottom would be a better option anyway.

Scotland and Birchall are iffy for round 1 so you might have a couple of donuts for round 1, same as forward line, Ziebell and Sidebottom may not play round 1, so there is a 3rd donut

And Ballantyne is apparently out until Round 2/3, then needing a few weeks to gain some fitness might not see him in the Dockers team till Round 5/6, perfect downgrade target.

Salary cap left: $35,700

Backs: Hodge, Goddard, Cornes, S. Stevens, Houlihan, Raines, Hill (Suban, Petrenko)

Centres: Ablett, Dalziell, Gibbs, T. Tuck, Hasleby, L. Anthony (Rich, Beams)

Forwards: Pavlich, Chapman, J. Brown, D. Thomas, Higgins, Skipworth, Krakouer (Hogan, M. Brown)

I'm 4k short of being able to trade McIntosh to Fraser
Also I've chosen Hodge & S. Stevens over Enright & Lockyer

Everyone seems to spend all there money in the midfield these days.. :S
But anyway, I like the team but its just like everyone elses on here.
I would try and upgrade one of your forwards hence you have good backup and all those players starting should play.

i hav picked some playrs in my team that i am iffy about because i cant pick premiums i have to pick players between 300k and 400k

the players i have atm are
Travis Cloke (looks to be getting quite a few marks up the field this yearw ith jack anthony holding up the full forward spot)
Heath Shaw (frustrated a lot last year but with the new zoning technique doesnt look to get tagged as often)
Nathan Foley (unless i do really well and have money and trades to use he could hold up a 6th midfielder..with extra help in the midfield might get as hard a tag)

what are peoples thoughts?

hey guys
Thoughts on my team apreciated

Backs: Goddard, Fisher, Cornes, Shaw, Macleski , Hill, Hurley Petrenko, Rance

Centres: Swan , S.Thompson , J.Selwood, Judd , Higgins , Rich/Ziebell Anthony, Beams

Rucks: Cox , Ottens Spencer, Pyke

Forwards: Pavlich, Richardson, Harvey , N.G Brown , Lucas , M.Brown , Gumbleton Walker, Grant

Going with more rookies, and the way i see it is that the only upgrades i should need during the year are
Hurley
Hill
Rich
Higgins (maybe)
Brown
Gumbleton

The rest are keepers

Don't like your forward line. Richo, Harvey, Brown and Lucas are all on the wrong side of 30 and Harvey's the only durable one. I also think you're expecting too much if you want Lucas to be a keeper. I also wouldn't want to be relying on two of Brown, Gumby, Walker and Grant scoring well week in week out, and with the lack of durability in your forward line you could have weeks where you have to play all four. I think you'd be better off going for more durable players like Gia or Deledio or at least downgrading players in other areas and upgrading your lower end forwards. And I have the same problem with expecting Hurley, Petrenko or Rance to be playing each week. IMO only Hurley has a chance of being best 22 from that group, and even if he is he probably won't score well. And get Rich, not Ziebell.

$165,300 left.

I don't know what to think about my team. It's pretty much my first go through. I don't know how much I like McIntosh in my ruck. Last year was my first DT year and he was injured, but I remember the year before he was putting up good stats. Did they translate to DT? I'm happy with my backline, but I think I'm missing a premium in both the mids and fowards. Can anyone recommend any different rookies as well, I'm not up on them. Cheers :)

We have the exact same backline, including bench players, except I have Houlihan instead of Malceski.

Do you need that much money left over? If you don't then upgrade HMac if you're not happy with him. And I wouldn't be picking Cousins and Kerr. Presumably if you're picking up players at that price you expect keepers, but having Gibbs, Cousins and Kerr as your 4th, 5th and 6th mids at season's end will put you at a disadvantage. I'd trade one out (possibly Kerr as I don't rate him as a DT'er) and either use some of that left over money or downgrade someone like JB, who has proven year after year that he's inconsistent and can be picked up at a cheaper price later in the year. As for recommending new rookies, Jacobs from Carlton and Spencer from Melbourne are at rookie prices and should play Round 1. Currie's injured and probably won't. It's up to you whether to pick up both rookies and hope or get one, stick with Currie and hope he can work his way back through injury and into the side.
