DT TALK 2009 - Round 8 Episode
http://www.dreamteamtalk.com

Round 7 of the AFL sucked! The AFL Dream Team Donut Round! Argh!

One bloke that didn't get a donut was Luke McPharlin from the Fremantle Dockers. Thanks to Adam B who sent in this intro! You are a champion!

After around the grounds... some bloke tries to sell some donuts and Chopper doesn't want any more! We discuss the big zeros of the round and have a look at some odds in Gamblevin - he is your man if you want to make some quick cash thanks to sportingbet.com.au!

Calvin gives us three things that have shaped his DT season thus far, Chop gets rid of a worthy Port Adelaide player and we finish with a blooper from the filming of Albert Lord for our weekly appearance on HawksKids - the Hawthorn Football Club's kids show that airs in Tassie every Saturday morning on Southern Cross... you can also catch it on their website: http://www.hawthornfc.com.au

Chad Chad Chad! He had to be chopped... 15 at 3/4 time!! NOT GOOD! Especially when a few of us pencilled him in as a keeper! It's not like he is a 'rookie'... just a bargain!

recovered somewhat to 47. Who would have him as a keeper? Luke Hodge should get the chop every week :) he has been absolutely stinking it up, if you aren't fit dont play ;)

As a 7th Forward... who wouldn't want him as a keeper? Scores of 55, 78, 97, 103, 86, 74... then his 47 (when people worked out how to shut him down).

Seriously Chad, no wonder you're ranked awfully and bringing down the DT Talk Champion League.

Have you seen all the port games? any of the port games? seen krakouers role? He isn't a keeper because he will not be given as much freedom as he has on a week to week basis. As soon as he gets a man (anyone stand next to him) or gets a job he will score poorly (as first shown this week, and will be shown again after his week when port play sydney). Krak has 2 sub 60 scores in 7 weeks. Compared to say Ziebell who apart from his first game (give him one to get set) has not scored under 69, getting midfield time and looks more of a possible 7th forward than krakouer IMHO.

Seriously Chad, no wonder you're ranked awfully and bringing down the DT Talk Champion League.
Stinking it up in 9th spot :) We don't all have the 'resources' available to us that you do :) It is a marathon, sure i am not in a great position like you are (geary and gilbert why didn't i get them), but it is far from over. The ones that have let me down are the so called durable premiums, and i will back them in all year. And if i am not good enough at the end of the year, take me out of the league for next year.

I haven't seen any Port games... I like to enjoy watching footy! Hehe...

Bigger fish to fry than upgrading Ziebell or Krak in my opinion... Ziebell will keep his spot in my side... as would have Krak - but the value to trade him up to SJ is too good to give up. 6 weeks of really good scores (the 7th being last weeks stinker) makes Krak a perfect candidate for a keeper. Especially with the woes people have had.

I guess you'll tell me that Higgins isn't a candidate as a keeper either?

Midfield trading is where it's at. And having 6 MASSIVE mids that will pull you 700pts (plus captain on top of that) week to week is better than the inconsistent 'forward' guns!

Time will tell on league and league rankings... ;)

Port play fast exciting high scoring footy. Unless the side doesn't come to play (west coast and saints) in which case you can turn it off at 1/4 time port games are always entertaining. Still don't know why the kangas got rid of motlop.

Krak to SJ is one we have talked about :) 77 avg to 108 avg for 95k.

If he can get onto the park he is a candidate for a premium not a keeper.

Absolutely. The hard thing is that the midfield is where the players are that will make you the cash to upgrade players (rich, otten, moss, whitecross, hartlett etc). Finally robinson back this week.

Time will tell on league and league rankings... ;)
Indeed, and i expect you to win it from here ;) great side, plenty of trades and you are an under-rated DTer. Not sure about the cheap shot though ( "Seriously Chad, no wonder you're ranked awfully and bringing down the DT Talk Champion League"), didn't think that was needed.

Yeh, but you cant value the trade based on this data IMO - need to value it on what you think they will average for the year.

For SJ to average 100 for the season, he would average 96.27 from now on.

For SJ to average 95 for the season, he would average 88.93 from now on.

I think 95-100 will probably end up being his range - so lets say he will average 92 for you, if you bring him in this week.

Krakouer is currently on an average of 77 - but, I think he will most likely received attention at times throughout the year and thus I think 70-80 is his range (which is wider due to my uncertainty about a potential tag).

Hence, krakouer should be estimated as 75ppg (going by my method).

Is an increase from 75ppg to 92ppg = 17ppg worth 95k?

17ppg x 15 rounds = 255 points

255 points = 95k?

Well, it is said that trades should try to net around 300 points or 100k.

Following this rule, SJ does not fit the bill, with my projection = 255.

However, this doesnt mean you shut the trade out, as you must analyse the situation regarding the forward premiums:

Richo - injured
Boomer - injured
Franklin - zone impacting him, reduced output, not quite fit, less supply
Deledio - Tag
Pavlich - role change to MF
Chapman - injury concerns (though he does look fit)
NGB - injury concerns
Didak - injury concerns
Goodwin - injury concerns
Gia - TOG concerns
Riewoldt - .....ok hes a dead set gun;)

There is a heck of a lot doubts that can be thrown around for almost every forward premium, and this year, an average of 92 for your team from SJ would be very very servicible and towards the top teir of the scoring in the premiums. For this reason, the advantage of having SJ - one of the top FW premiums - in your team, may outweigh the 45points potential points gianed by using the trade elsewhere.

Just something to think about.

and to go with him poor scoring, dropped. How are you ranked 21st with Krakouer as a keeper? :)
Chad, Chad, Chad.

I don't want to keep bringing up this point... but it is the ONLY one people need to thing about!!!

Go here:

http://www.fanfooty.com.au/players/profile.php?firstname=Nathan&surname=Krakouer

Scroll down and look at his DT scores for the first 6 rounds: 55, 78, 97, 103, 86, 74.

Tell me now that you wouldn't take those kind of scores from your 7th Forward that you paid under $200K for?

My earlier quote "pencilled in as a keeper"... PENCILLED IN! If he kept that up, he would have stayed in 80% of DT's that had him, right up to round 22. but, things change... and obviously that happened with this bloke. Now Jack Ziebell may end up being a 'keeper'. (and don't start carrying on now about his scoring... it is a throw away line...).

The less Port Adelaide players I have the better. Stevie J is doing a much better job than Krak.
