Dubbing music over a video?

Hi all,

A general question to all - does anyone know how I would go about dubbing music over a a standard personal video I have, to replce the already existing sound effects?

Can it be done?

most good video editing packages will allow you to do this, the two i use are

ulead videostudio 7
ulead dvd moviefactory 2

You do need to get the video onto your computer first, via video capture.

a good range of tv capture cards which have super video input on them and tv tuner cards.

firewire cards are pretty cheap and most newer computers will already have this on them along with good old usb 2 ports.

It's just on a standard video tape at the moment...

so youll need a tv tuner/ video capture card

i use a winfast tv2000 xp deluxe edition. it comes with good software also both of the ulead videoediting programs i mentioned before,

it has a svideo input for the video
antenna in for the tv
an inbuilt fm radio tuner

ive configured mine to capture foxtel as well.

consider a similar unit with digital tv capaboilities as they dont cost to much extra and better quality.

You'll need either a capture card or some money to hire someone else to do it, then.
