Future investment in pubs will not happen. CFC already over exposed in that area that cost the club dearly. I can understand some support for considering an historic/emotional purchase of the 'Grace Darling' for example, however this would only work if the club was still operating & playing out of Vic Park & could be used as a supporters pub.

I tried to arrange a function at the Grace Darling for the BigFooty guys that didn't get a chance to meet up after the Grand Final in 2010. We wanted to show a replay of the game and re-live the premiership. They were so traumatised by the chaos on the night we won the GF the publican wouldn't even entertain the idea of having another group of Collingwood supporters in there. I thought it was pretty funny at the time but also pretty soft from the Grace Darling.

Love the Yarra, great pub. Con is a great publican but he is only there anothe few months then he's out. He was supposed to finish up in October but signed a 6 month extension as the freehold is up for sale and it's taking longer than expected to move.

You're dreaming if you think you'd get a single board member, coterie group or sponsor to step foot in their either. Would need a large amount of money (probably pushing 500k) to get it up to some sort of level that collingwood would consider it.

I would imagine that the new owner will be spending some big coin, it's not the easiest place to stop at to have a beer.

Hope it is not closed down.

I reckon there is a big market for the club to cash in on Collingwood fans, particuarly interstate ones, some who have never been to Vic park, or even the suburb itself. A tour of the ground, lunch/a few beers at a local pub, with plenty of old memoribilia, some sort of local speaker and a bus to the MCG........ creates jobs and $$$, and best of all there are no pokies involved.
