What very good player had a father that was a dud and makes you feel better about the fact that he was at the club.

I would think Dustin Fletcher/Ron Fletcher.
I know his father was captain of the Bombers (was he any good as a player?)

Witnalls father I think was a very average player.

Yeah buy the sounds of it he wasn't a good player at all as a matter of fact iof the rule was as it is now Lance would have gone in the draft becuase his old man played under 100 games but over 50.

Of couse, any football supporter should and would know that GOD played for Victoria at different stages during his career.

Wasnt he

Didnt Essendon think he was any good?

The James Hird story was a case of knowing his pedigree and almost falling over ourselves laughing as the Swans, who had let go Longmire and Carey in what would have to be the silliest move ever, didn't draft Hird and all that Sheedy and Judkins had to do was recruit him over. We knew his grandfather had played for, coached and was president of Essendon..we also knew his father arrived and left just as quickly.

I'm still trying to work out how the Swans, even allowing for Hird's injury in the year prior to being drafted, didn't pick him up.

One thing people cannot accuse David Cloke of being is a dud...you don't play 333 games if you are a dud...you must be bloody good to keep going as long as that. This bloke played in 2 Richmond premierships, was a captain at Richmond and also represented Collingwood with distinction before walking back over Victoria St to play with the Tigers again.

To even suggest that he's a dud is very bloody harsh.

And his sons havn't exactly lived up the Collingwood hype either have they...
One has just been derafted, another has played a handful of games as a 19 year old at CHF and looked good and the first has his detractors after playing 3 seasons in the seniors after 1 in the VFL. Surely the jury is still out.

David FWIW was a good player, kicked a bag in a premiership and played over 300 games. Dud's don't play 300 games.

Matty McCarthy's father Shane played a handful of games for the Cats. Now, I know the younger McCarthy hasn't done a lot but he's done more than his dad and there's still hope for the boy if he can just learn to bloody kick.

Steven and Ryan Hargrave, at least the doggys are now getting some sort of return for the $ they shelled out to get his old man from Perth, probably would have been alright if his knee didn't go.
