I think a similar thing happened earlier in the year to another club (maybe Geelong?). They went to challenge and withdrew on the day because something happened which meant the player wouldn't play anyway.
Nothing compared to when we got Schoey off at the tribunal for striking Oliver, only to drop him for the next game anyway.
I liked one of the responses on twitter:
"Did you ask Collingwood's permission to tweet this?"

The chances of getting him off were probably 50/50 at best and the $10k fee comes out of the soft cap for an unsuccessful appeal
Worth the chance if he’d be able to play but a bit foolish to proceed when there’s no real upside
He’d likely be unable to appear before the tribunal as well making a successful outcome that but harder to achieve as well
