Hi Simon,

Please attach your Simon's Sign Off video to this email chain after the game today by no later than 9pm tonight. Make sure you mention the wine label this week, I don't want to receive another angry call from Penfolds.

Cheers,

Media Guy

Hi Simon,

We still haven't received your Simon's Sign Off video. Are you having any issues sending it through? Just a reminder that the club has an agreement with Penfolds to release one of these videos after every game this season and we will be in breach of that contract if it's not up by 12pm tomorrow. Please let me know if you need any assistance. I will reach out again in the morning.

Cheers,

Media Guy

And it just goes on like that for 3 more days.

We've made a lot of dumb trades but we basically got back what we traded for him, don't think it was too cheap at all.

The Oliver contract when they knew he was ****ing up off-field is staggering to me, and probably the worst decision we've made outside Goodwin related stuff.
Grundy had been injured and out of form for 2 years before we took him on. He had that massive contract too.

We got him fit and we would have been better off having him at Casey with a hand full of senior games, than let him go to a side who should have had him valued as a top 12-15 pick. Possibly higher if we were prepared to take on some of that contract.

Agree on your second point. That one is going to hurt us for another few years I suspect.

Why would a ruck who hasn't been any good for 3 years get a top 15 pick 😅 come on man.

We got out of the contract, we got the same pick back for him essentially it was fine in the end.

Why we passed on Jesse Hogan when he wanted to return at the end of 2020 I will never know.

Unforgivable.
I don't recall any talk of him every wanting to return to us specifically after his time was done at Freo

I also think getting away from the media (and bad influences) in the hardcore footballing states has done him wonders. He would not be playing this well if he was playing for us

It was reported end of 2020 he met with Melbourne and both parties considered the move but ultimately walked away.

Okay cheers for clearing that up. My memory is short

Still don't think it would have worked out at us

Are, are you the MFC media guy? This looks too accurate to be a fake mock-up.

Not using a sub in a final and/or picking Schache as sub in a final.

He'd likely have done bugger all but it was a weird time to optionally not to use the sub for the first time ever.

You’ve got to remember where he was at when we brought him in, and then fit and firing when we let him go.

With Collingwood paying a good chunk of that contract, I would have preferred we kept him at Casey for most of the year.

I’ll always denote hindsight where appropriate, but I genuinely thought we should have kept him when Sydney only offered up pick 30 something or whatever it was.

Yeah, the stupid part about the Grundy trade was using him in a way that nullified both he and Max’s strengths. What we gave up/got was fine.

This is the one for me.
Horrendous coaching move in what turned out to be a pretty close game.

The kicker was Goodwin justified it because Max wasn't 100% so he was there to ruck if he got injured.

Meanwhile Grundy was sitting in the Olympic Stand watching the game
I'm a nuffy, but I do think the odds of Grundy or a resting Max jagging a goal or two from our 10,000 dump kicks into the forward line would have been pretty good.

Fit and firing lol. He was fit, he was also playing reserves to finish the year. There was absolutely no benefit to keeping a guy hostage in the reserves to haggle over a pick and pay 400-500k for that privelage

Can someone make a “Good decisions by MFC last 5 years” thread for the sake of science.

Genuinely believe there havnt been any. Even shit that has worked out in our favor has been due to a failure (eg not being able to trade 3 firsts for Harley Reid or cooking up the Houston trade).

Also suprised no one has mentioned our idiotic coaching appointments in Basset and Jones while moving Chaplin forward (and then redeploying his forwards into defence/midfield roles on game day anyway ultimately setting up our only competent coach to fail).
