My favourite goals were the early ones.
season 9 GIF

I got a call from some arrogant ****wit in the membership department wanting to know why I hadn't renewed, told him I was sick of the arrogance coming from the clubs leadership as well as the boring game plan.

His response was to smugly say "well I look forward to hearing from you when we're 4-0"

The joint needs a total clean out before I sign up again.

i missed a call from them a few weeks back (because who actually answers their phone anymore) and the message the old guy left was asking about renewal.

this was after the NM puss game, and i didn't bother calling back...until we then backed that effort up again against GC and i called back to let them know i wasn't renewing until serious change happened (cope). the dude sounded like he'd had to deal with this exact call a shitload this season, and even though im MCC and adding a club membership ontop of that is like the price of a cheeseburger, it's about making a point.

This thread is going to take anyone who reads it to a dark place probably, but if you want to get stuff off your chest by all means.
Honestly don’t know where to start
Is short. Allowing Hubris back into the inner sanctum of the club.!!!

Then following the inner thinking with Hubris comes the looong contracts, to key players... encouraging them to believe the Hubris minded attitudes.

From there on it all a downhill slide... slowly gathering momentum.

Attitudes get softer and efforts get lazier, all the while players keep their positions within the senior side.

Goody where the hell were you... and what were you thinking.?

1. Chasing Houston and willing to give up 2 first rounders for him. A true sign that Lamby and Goody have no idea where the list is at. So the decision didn't affect us because Petracca scared off Houston but the decision itself was crazy thinking.
2. Grundy.
3. Not playing Bedford, and thus losing him to GWS for next to nothing.
4. Chucking away valuable picks to get Tholstrup.
5. The Jefferson pick isn't looking great when the likes of Michalanney, Darcy Jones and Weddle were right after him. And I think the Langford pick over Reid, Smillie and Travalgia will come back to hurt us.

Don't think you're too unreasonable with these Dan - the Bedford one was clearly a big error, he is just a role player but in a position of need for us yet we treated him like crap at selection so I didn't blame him at all for leaving. Think you're a fraction biased on the Langford pick but a very long time before anyone is proven right there, he has looked very good this year IMO and will only be better with more opportunity.

It is way too early to take a strong position on the Langford pick. He has played two and a bit games, and was arguably our best player in round 3. Lindsay has also looked promising too.

Let me know you feel about it at the end of 2026 danster168 .

Passing on Murphy Reid twice might end up being a blunder!

A Stephen Powell clone to me but yeah let's wait a couple years :) Lindsay is a jet. Happy to be wrong though. I hope I am. But Reid and Travalglia look like guns from their first game.

Not sure if it's been said or not, but trading away this years first round pick. Obviously someone was delusional to think we'd be trading away a lower pick not 1 or 2. (Or this years talent isn't any good?)

It doesn't register in the top 50 but reckon it was really poor last year to leave Lachie Hunter on 199 games.

How much would it have hurt to just give him his 200th against the Dogs then he could call it there?

Not to mention the way we've treated a ton of younger/fringe guys (Woewodin always sub never getting a full run, the disgraceful way we treated Kynan last year, not playing Fullarton at all until this week).

I have a feeling Hunters off field issues might have had something to do with this.

bit late to the party on the Grundy chat - I was totally against the decision to recruit him and was then happy to move him on when it didn't work.

But where have we used the ~$700k from offloading his salary? Not to mention ~80% of Gus's salary? Plus Ben Brown retiring, surely that's a stack of coin to sign some big targets (not Sharp, Billings, Fullarton and co).

The internal overating of Harrison Petty. Melbourne Big Footy contributors knew the deal was a lopsided winner for the Dees.
The Club f...ed big time.

That doesn't surprise me at all. They clearly took their customer service training from the prison officers at Pentridge.

It's best to just know your place when you're Melbourne member. Just remember, they don't want us, they only want our money.

Not belting the absolute stuffing out of Maynard and winning that goddam QF in 2023. No flag was flown that night. Lost by 7 points and I don’t think Collingwood were that much better than us that year.

Looking back, a lot of our downfall can be tracked back to that night.

What you said is def true. Appalling lack of fight.

Then losing in true Goody style, dominating everywhere but couldn't convert.

Then doing the same the next week v Carlton.

The Schache sub debacle.

Then Gus retiring.

Then spending the Grundy and Gus money on ... Fullarton, Billings and Sharp.

Yep.

Lost by 7 and had so much more of it. Collingwood snuck in a flag by winning the next two games by a total of 5 points. Genuinely feel that was our year. We could have definitely gotten it done. Collingwood were just not that much better. In fact probably par.

The Brayshaw incident rattled the whole group. We should have stepped up after that. Yes, abhorrent lack of fight. I genuinely believe we were right in it that year. The group never recovered.
