I visited Melbourne several times in my teens - went to St Kilda as you do.

I didn’t realise the water there was a Bay. I just thought water behaved a bit differently in Victoria

Forgot about that old saying, I actually didn't even really understand it. Yes I had my doubts that your eyes will actually change shape. Apparently it just means your eyes will go dry, or you'll get blurry vision and headaches. Funny thing is you don't really hear the saying much anymore when it feels more important now in a world where everyone has a screen in the palm of their hand.

I used to think the phrase was 'make a vline' instead of 'make a beeline'.

In my mind it made sense, as looking down railway tracks into the distance to tracks always look like they converge each other at a distant point and that would be the quickest way to said point.

When I started watching AFL all the time, and Melbourne was my team, I wanted us to win so much but we often lost and it was often crushing.

I asked partner PG why we weren’t winning more and he said “because we just aren’t good enough”. So then I asked him why we don’t have enough good players, but other teams do, and he told me that the club didn’t have enough money so raffled out list spots to the membership.

I believed that one for way too long.

I was having a good time. Why'd you have to bring V/line into this?

Just remembered another one. Swallowing gun stays in your stomach for 7 years. I reckon I believed that at some point but as I got older I definitely found that questionable. Having said that I generally avoided swallowing gum anyway because it's just not normal.

If you draw on your skin ink will seep into your blood stream. Again this was something I avoided not that I was worried just that I didn't see a point in scribbling on my skin. I thought paper was a better option .
