I take your point, just saying that perhaps, given his setbacks with injury over the years it may have been hard for him, 3000k's from home on another freezing winter day with a few hundred people watching to have been enthused about playing in the 2's and that when the light at the end of the tunnel has finally arrived and he's playing on the big stage on Friday night footy he might feel a bit more excited about playing and put it in a bit.
Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Because everyone in the WAFL would be in the same situation. You can only measure against the people you play against, and generally he doesn't measure up.

Plus, the home town argument... should have had a massive effort last night then. Also, with long lay offs in injury, he should have been enthused to play any level, regardless. Someone like Head, busts his gut every week - and I don't know why that sort of effort isn't rewarded, if, apparently, everyone's effort goes up when promoted.

We'll see how Dunn's performance is when he can't get himself up each week like he did that first game. It certainly wasn't there last night, and it may continue to wain. But certainly is indicative of his efforts in the WAFL.

Not everyone in the WAFL is on an AFL list. For most of them this is it so they bust a gut every week or they don't play. For someone who was elite at U18 level and drafted top 10 the WAFL must seem like a bit of a come down.
Anyway I'm not making excuses for the guy . Just suggesting some reasons why he SHOULD have stepped up. Disappointing as he was I think he deserves another few games before we decide he's no good though.

I think he should get a few more games.

It's just disappointing that last week's effort appears to now be one of pure emotion, rather than anything more.

Ryley Dunn is a HACK - get rid...2 possesions for a whole match - the worst individual effort in a game this year for Fremantle

Did you watch the ____ing game? I would like to no how many minutes he played. WOuldnt be anymore then 30 mins i reckon.

You are allowed outside the 50 to get the ball - then you can actually contribute to your team having more I50's. Its not netball where you're confined to zones???

That is very dependent on what the coach orders you to do.

Are you suggesting that Harvey has ordered him to stay inside 50, then benchs him because he only got 2 poss. from limited opportunities? I don't think so.

What i'm saying is that none of us know what his role was and where he was supposed to be playing so its impossible for us to judge accurately.

This is the tough thing about giving someone a chance ....you have to be prepared to give them a minimum of 3-4 games.

He showed something against NMelb and was ordinary against St K ....let us do the right thing and play him and then draw a line under the correct decision. We are not challenging for a finals spot - it will cost nothing to do the right thing.

For any of you who have ever had to step up a class in any competition whether it be Colts to ressies, small town bush league to city footy etc - it is not easy and sometimes you can just get overawed, sometimes you can just try too hard, sometimes you can just get so cautious about not making errors that you stuff up or do nothing.

I would hope Dunn was told you will ahve a run of games to show us what you have ...in my eyes if he is dropped it is reactionary.

We need to have the balls to play him and give him a decent run and then judge.

Nothing to lose from playing Dunn for as many games as Harvey wants. If he turns out to be a player, all good. If not, then that's also good to know. Same with Head. Same with Browne. Same with Warnock. Same with Drum. Get them out there.

I think this photo dispells the myth that he was injured.

I'd like to see Dunn given a couple more chances.

He wasn't the only player who had an ordinary game on Friday.

I rate him and I've got my fingers crossed that he'll come through in the next couple of games(if given the chance) and show everyone that he can play at this level. To me he is still better value than others in the team.

He had 2 pos 1clang 1 tack 55mins.Sunday times
Has looked alright before in preseason and 1 bad game out of 2 doesn't mean we should get rid of him now when they're is plenty of season left.

The same happened with Ibbo. His(Ibbo) first or second game was Poor..He was slow to get rid of it and looked out of his depth. Now look at Ibbo. Maybe the same will be true with Dunn. ??:)

I think your right and I reckon his next 4 games will decide his future, either here or else where. In saying that I would love to see him turn it around and have a long future in the purple.
