...for shaking a goal post !!! :D:D

LMAO!!!!

If thats true then the last time someone got reported for that was Stewart Loewe back in about 88 or 89...someone had a kick after the siren to win the game, Loewe shook the goalpost in time with when the ball went thru and the goal umpire thought it was a point and whoever Saints were playing lost the game.
I think he got two matches for it.

Pop Quiz.....

Who was the last person to be reported for shaking a goal post?

(And FYI, this offence is reportable because it is basically cheating! I reckon Fletcher should get 6 for it! :D)

Doh Macca!

I think you are close with your answer, but not right! I think it was another big Saint and it was a little more recent!

If I remember correctly, it was in the Essendon forward 50?

???

It was in Essendon's forward 50. There was only one instance in which the goalpost was obviously 'shaking' and that was when Matty Lloyd was shooting for goal at the main scoreboard end.

Fletcher must've tried to cheat Lloyd out of a goal. :D

If it was on an Essendon goal, Essendon are extremely lucky that the umpire didn't pick it up during the match (the report was on video) or else the goal wouldn't have counted and a free kick would have been awarded from where the ball was kicked from!! It might have had an effect on the final scores of the match.

Happened in the 2nd quarter. Hardly had an effect on the outcome. Corey's miss in the last quarter could have had an effect on the outcome of the game, as that would have brought North back within a point.

I don't understand why players shake the goalposts. Despite what people say, it doesn't increase the chances of the ball hitting post one iota.

If the post is wobbling from side to side and the ball is going to travel "close" to the goal post, there is every chance that the wobbling post could cause the ball to hit it, when it normally would have missed it as well as missng the post when it normally would have hit it.

In fact, there would be an equal chance that the ball will either miss the post, when it would have normally hit it, or hit the post, when it would have normally missed. It works both ways.

Why would a player risk a fine of $2000, when their act of shaking the post, does not increase the chance of the ball hitting it? Mathematically, the chance of it hitting the post are still identical to the situation where the goal post is stagnant.

Dim I think that is the idea shake the post and maybe it wont hit it... it was in your attacking zone...

Well you know Essendon... if there is a chance to cheat and get caught... they're in...

No such luck, set penalty, 600 bucks. From the replay I saw it's opne & shut, guilty.

Fitzroy forward Darren Wheildon in 93' while a teammate was shooting for goal.

Fletcher was booked in the 3rd quarted when Jess Sinclair was having a set shot!

Doc Wheildon got a mention in this mornings paper for 1993! That wasn't the answer I had in mind though!

Around the same time, St. Kilda ruckman Lazar Vidovic was brought up on the same charge.

Do you think that misses only close to the siren have an effect on the outcome of a game?? That is the biggest load of BS I've ever heard. It could have swung the momentum. I still don't think the roos would have won: It was surprising they finished that close considering their effort after quarter time. But to say that one incident wouldn't have changed the game just because it occured in the middle of the game is just ludicrous.
