Martin has been offered a very fair contract .

That contract has been rejected by his management, who unfortunately have no idea.

The RFC will not offer Martin any more $$$$$ as it would compromise the geelong model of wages we are implementing, it will also send the wrong message to the other players that have signed for below what their worth is in the market ( Cotch, Lids, Rance ect

Very real possibility of this turning ugly at the moment.

His old man came down , and things could not be sorted out
F*ck!

OK Martin - you want to negotiate hard?
Well today is a danger game for us... need to win well to hold on to 5th spot with some certainty.

Prove you are truly worth what you & (* insert cork suckers Managers name .......) are asking for...

BOG today, 35 + possessions @ more than 80%, 6 + tackles, 4 goals....

Then we might talk further!

For what it's worth I think Martin will sign on. I think Richmond will hold their ground and say 575k we really want you to stay but if
that is not enough then or you had better look at other options.

As for freeing up some salary cap $...

McGuane has had a great year but as teams are crying out for talls he holds value. Still youngish. Free agent I'm told, compo won't be great 35- 40ish?

Nahas will also be shopped, traded - another 250k freed up there. He always plays well in Adelaide, Port, GWS, even St.Kilda to replace Milne and Saad.

Trade: Nahas, McGuane
Delist: Derickx, , O. Stephenson, S. Lonegran

5 senior spots then unsure of the contract status of A. Edwards & S Tuck.

If you actually watch how Martin plays, he is replaceable. He is the biggest sheepdog in the team and never gets his own ball. All he does is hang around the pack for a loose ball or try's to receive someone else's hard work. Martin is 100% replaceable and players like Cotchin who earn their own football are worth their weight in gold.

We cannot budge on the offer. People are just caught into the hype because he does an occasional fend off and kicks a good running goal from someone else's hard work. When the heat is on in a game he never stands up against quality opposition. Cherry-picking sheep dog. In his first 2 years he went in hard and got his own ball, now he is just lazy.

Maybe because that's not his role in the team anymore? I mean we've got Cotch, Jackson, Vlastuin, Conca and Biccy when he's fit all in getting the contested ball. I think this new role suits him more.

I understand that he is good in this role. The role he is playing is replaceable. Link up players with small tanks are replaceable and I would rather a pick 2-3 & a good play if he wants to put himself ahead of team success.

Most are missing the point here.

Every other player has given ground in their negotiations, in order to keep the team together, they have known they cannot have everything they want.

Dusty hasn't done this. He started at 600-650, and is still insisting on this. Club has given ground, he still refuses.

He has put himself over the importance of club unity, it's time for the ultimatum. We cannot, and must not, give into his demands. To do so is a slap in the face for every other clubman who was willing to give up some of their claims for team unity.

Give him a last and final offer, without a "6" in front of it, and if he doesnt blink, let him go

I think we need to chill out with our anger towards Dusty here- he's more than entitled to negotiate for the best deal. He clearly is lacking in a few life skills so needs to set himself up through Footy.

Anyway, a piece in the HUN today says that despite the recent snag he is still expected to sign very soon

How many more are on insane money like Nahas if it is true??!!!:rolleyes:o_O

Carlton - pick 9 + Garlett for Dusty
St Kilda - pick 3 + Armitage with a hair cut for Dusty
Dogs - pick 4 + Wallis for Dusty
Melbourne - pick 2 + Watts/Grimes for Dusty
North - pick 7 + Zeibell for Dusty and 2nd/3rd rounder

... I'd rather just keep him though :(

We'd be dreaming if we thought we'd get any of those deals

Disagree. Only give him a 'final' offer. No, I mean, only give him a 'last' offer. No, maybe you're right - 'last AND final' is best. You make those boarding calls at the airport don't you RFCT74?
