Now that I have cooled down I realise what a hypocrite I have been.
When Ablett left Geelong for a massive pay increase I stated to all that would listen, that you couldnt blame him as we would all do the same.
Now Dusty is no Ablett and the money potentially on offer is not the same but whether we like it or not, Football is a business and more than any other business it offers a very short career. Based on the figures being bandied about it seems stupid of him not have signed, but the reality is we dont really know what he has been offered by us or anyone else.
Now dont get me wrong I will hate him if he leaves because deep down I truely believe he owes the RFC more than any player I have seen in my time coupled with my love and loyalty to all things Richmond but he has to look out for no1 whilst his short career is bubbling along so well as it could all come to end in the blink of an eye and then what? He doesnt have a career in media waiting for him, so its back to the family business, which is hardly inspiring for a guy with the world at his feet.
FWIW I dont think he will leave and thats great, but if he does I think we will be the real winners out of all this.
