Nobody's said he's not entitled to the presumption of innocence.
as the incident occurred in a public place in front of 20+ witnesses and someone who snapchatted it the presumption of innocence is limited to the impact of the actions.

anyone else heard the one about the delay limit the active compounds in a drug / saliva test?

don't believe it but it shows how martin is perceived by the public

As i said in my last 2 posts in this thread some facts have been established... he was pissed... that much he can't remember anything, he was asked to leave a licenced premise for being pissed and having an altercation in public with a stranger... who was a woman, whom he stood over in an intimidating way as the video shows. Forget what was said ( thats being investigated) but all those other facts is that the message the Richmond Footy club wants to send to its playing list, sponsors, supported charities, members and the football fraternity???

Cause as of now they have not said those things are unacceptable... at this point, they are.

Do you think its cool for all of your players to get that wasted during pre season?

If so... 17 other clubs go awesome!
No I think all acknowledge he has done the wrong thing. there is no point giving him a penalty for being wasted during pre-season when it could come out he has done far, far worse. He should get one punishment from the club (criminal is another matter entirely), once all the facts come out.

Enough with the excuses.
Enough with playing this down.
Its time to get real. Who the hell does this tool think he is ?
Martin has been given special treatment by the Club from Day 1. As we saw with Fev, giving a guy special treatment just because he's a good player, in the long term, creates a monster and is massively detrimental to the playing culture of the Club. I mean, a grown man still having to be 'babysat by Club Leaders, even after 7 years in the AFL system... Come on, that's just pathetic.
Education wont do the trick. He's had plenty of that. All AFL players get hour after hour of it pumped into them. You telling me that he doesn't understand that drunkenly abusing, intimidating and threatening a woman is wrong ? Come off it!
Fines, suspensions, and treading sensitively around his 'lifestyle' haven't, and wont work.
Enough is enough.
The only way he ll learn, and the Tigers can move on, is to take a stance and cut him loose.
You cant allow one player to consistently hold the Club to ransom with his idiocy. Not only that, but after all the stuff the AFL has been, and is trying to do in terms of appreciating and respecting women, this incident has made them look like total fools.
If what the victim of this incident is saying is true, and there's no reason to believe she's lying, then Martin is is deep deep strife, and shouldn't be afforded any special treatment just because he's an AFL star.
Martin's been cuddling, and people have generally accommodated his 'choice of lifestyle' for 7 years.
Whether or not Footy is the only thing keeping this guy away from a life of crime and jail should be irrelevant.
He obviously enjoys that life, or enjoys the idea of it, so if that's the case, let him have it.
Let him understand that for once in his adult life, he has to be held fully accountable for his actions. He has to be treated as Dustin Martin the person who hs done wrong in the eyes of the law, not Dustin Martin the protected AFL star.
Jail time, or criminal convictions and community service, are the only way dodgy flogs like Dustin Martin can learn their lesson and begin the long journey to rehabilitation.
If the AFL are as serious as they say they are about respecting women, then whether or not he'll be allowed to play again should be the least of Martin's worries.

Read that crap. Would not trust that storyline as far as I could throw it.
Journalist as biased in her view as most Richmond fans that think "thoughtful kid Dustin is poor down trodden victim in this " and everyone just let him continue his path to make the world a better place.
While Carlton punishes its drunken brawling player with some hard training and an apology to the other team members:rolleyes:

Tell me about his choice of lifestyle, I'd like to know what it is.

Yeah. **** innocent until proven guilty. I don't care if he has no criminal record. Bring back capital punishment

Strange that amongst your lengthy rant there is no mention of Carltons Smith who engaged in a violent act on the streets while drunk, or do we forgive him because he lost the fight, the victim herself didnt even want him to miss any games yet you want him strung up.

Im always wary of those that profess equality, peace, love and freedom the loudest they are often the ones with the most skeletons in their closet.

If Clem had done what Martin is alleged to have done, then Id want him out of the Club.
Martin is to you guys what Fev was to us.
He will never learn.
The best thing for your team is to move on without him.

I don't know anything about any players private lives. You tell me what you're talking about. What's John Elliot up to these days? How would he have handled it as president of your club?
The same embaressing way that your Club and the AFL has up until now.

Totally agree.

But he was intoxicated and obviously intimidated the woman as the video has shown... and was asked to leave the premises...

On just those facts alone i'm surprised there has been no sanction handed to Dustin. Something that tells players, sponsors, supported charitys and fans of the Richmond Football club that these facts about Dustin are unacceptable to the Club.

I.e. Dustin will not play in the nab cup because he was intoxicated, had a dispute with a lady stranger, was asked to leave a licenced Premise and can't remember any of it. For that he will be club imposed suspended from all nab cup games pending the investigation from Police into the incident and all the facts come out at which time we will re-assess the sanctions and consider if they are appropriate or if further penalties are warranted.
This.

He was out drunk and behaving inappropriately, we will give him a small punishment pending the outcome of further investigations.

They get on the front foot, they punish him for being a dick, they leave open the option of punishing him further if it turns out it was worse, while at the same time not actually admitting anything and allowing the investigation to take its course without prejudice.

Win-win all around.

This is true.
If witnesses confirm the victims story, Martins deserves all of this.
Until then, we should wait until the investigation has been completed.
Acting now is naive.

We haven't paid the women in question off, your club did, multiple times.
That's right, and that was pathetic. But those were different times.
In these modern times, Richmond, who love spruiking about how they re the only Club with a female president, still 'leaned' on the victim and tried to water down her story. Even tried to falsify her statement.

It's got me ****** how some AFL players can be so idiotic nowdays. Great lifestyle, great money especially for some of those that can barely read and write, plenty of 'action', network opportunities and yet many of them insist on behaving like boofheads, dickheads and bogans. There's no more excuses for them nowdays.

should we give him some extra training sessions as Carlton have done with their drunken brawler, or maybe wait and decide on a proper punishment when all the facts are out and the law has dealt with the case?
