I think Dangerfield is great.
But Dusty is in the Ablett/Buddy stratosphere now.

Well in terms of the entire history of the game, what stratosphere is that?
It's carey, lockett, dunstall, matthews, williams, gablett snr in the top stratosphere (and a bunch of players I never got to watch like coleman, jesaulenko etc).
But who is the next rung below them? Is it hird, voss, judd, mcleoud, matera, buckley, cousins? Is ablett jnr, buddy and martin in this stratosphere?
I agree. But Martin is much better. Dangerfield‘s main weapon is bursting out of a pack and kicking it out on the full.Anyone arguing either player is way better than the other is crazy, both are seriously awesome players in their own right

It isn't Ablett Junior and I don't think it is Franklin either. Those guys have been consistently brilliant for a good 10 years.
Martin's been brilliant for about 4 years?
Yeah dusty penalised for his strength tho, gets a hand free when the average player gets it held to his chest.Obviously people will think I'm a whackjob for saying this but I don't even think Dusty is the best player at the tiges. Jack Riewoldt is over 30, in the twilight of his career now but his consistent performance over a long period of time supersedes Dusty's stellar 2017 season. I think some people have forgotten that a big part of the reason for Dusty's impact in 2017 was that that was the year he took the "Don't argue" to another level and opposition players couldn't lay an effective tackle on him. Well that changed a bit in the past 2 seasons as the opposition figured out how to nullify that facet of his game. I don't know the stats on this but he was probably pinged for holding the ball more than any other Richmond player last season. He is an extraordinarily skilled player and at his best he is just magic, in the same mould as Peter Matera, but in terms of reliability, consistency, football brain, I am seriously tempted to say that Jack Riewoldt > Dustin Martin.
Dusty is better than danger, but I also rate Bont ahead of danger
That is a fair enough opinion, Riewoldt has been a bloody good player, and vital to Richmond. Still think Dusty has him covered but not by much. There is not a whole lot of difference in the top end of town.Obviously people will think I'm a whackjob for saying this but I don't even think Dusty is the best player at the tiges. The scandalous opinion about Jack is not that he maybe the Tiges best and valuable player the last number of years, it is that he has superceded his cousin. That opinion will cause apoplexy amongst ideologues.so Riewoldt > Martin > danger?

nah he is not reliable in front of goalThat is a fair enough opinion, Riewoldt has been a bloody good player, and vital to Richmond. Still think Dusty has him covered but not by much. There is not a whole lot of difference in the top end of town.
Thought Martin looked very sharp and very fit which is a good sign, and I thought Dangerfield was really good once he got going.
Given the way he marked the ball, would Dangerfield be a better bet as an old fashioned full forward for Geelong this year. Not many would go with him for pace and he is so strong in the air. Clear out the forward line.
Well he might not be that reliable, but I reckon he'd kick a swag of goals, and a swag of points then.nah he is not reliable in front of goal

Lordy they are dinosaurs already... of course they are .. we are swift time travellers...We can't.
There's now two old timid dinosaurs occupying the forward fifty.

Dusty hasn't been that good until recently. Danger is on another level. I rate Selwood/Pendlebury/Fyfe/Bartel over Martin but Martin is still in that echelon
I wish we could re-write history on some of those 'top tier' players. It's no coincidence that you have 3 full forwards who played at roughly the same time on your list. Given the massive improvement in strategy over the past 20 years, will there ever be another immortal if Gazza Jr isn't one?Well in terms of the entire history of the game, what stratosphere is that?
