No mate, the fact you think it's plausible is the funny part. Like he will **** the club over to get to North. If he goes, he will go, but to think he would go to the PSD is one of the funnier scenarios i have read in the thread.
I'm a realist, i deal in real scenarios. But, you enjoy that book. Looks a good read.

No chance PSD but the Tigers if they lose him will try all they can to get something more than pick 16.

Don't reckon. If he leaves it is for money the Tigers can't match - they will have no choice but to bend over and accept the compo pick.

Their only out would be Dusty insisting he is traded. Not sure that has ever happened before?

So did the Crows threaten to match Danger and therefore a trade was done?

I think he goes. You can't ignore that type of offer if true. But, if he does accept, there's gonna be ramifications trying to keep your list together later on. It's a short sighted view (but that's only my opinion of course).

Isn't the difference between the two offers less than Richmond are paying Deledio to play for GWS?

History says that no, you wouldn't be. Pick 2 would have been traded for Shane Kersten, 3 and 4 in the draft would have been used to take Darcy Lang, Jack Steele or similar uninspiring, but honest, triers. Both pick 9s would be still on your list but not have played a game yet so we'd have no idea who they were.
Watts, Scully/ Trengove, Cook, Taggert, Toumpas, Salem. Talk about uninspiring
Someone's not being honest here

You lost me at completely neutral when you started liking old Percy's posts.

He's at The Mighty Boosh's level of obsession with North. Like Plugger level obsession with umpires.
Heya K4E! What's shaking'?

Nah, I got bored with you guys when my predictions involving that cliff came to pass. Then imagine my delight when I found the level of delusion in this thread! ;)

Just reliving old times and past glories. Look, we've got a live one here:

Yes, the work of one Barry Prendergast - though Salem is silk, just needs some continuity and has never had a preseason, also injury troll on Trengove, tsk tsk. I wonder where old Barry is working now...?

Extra $165k per year which over 7 is $1.155m.

That's a lot to leave on the table.
Some astute financial advice should ensure any highly paid AFL player legally paying far less than the top marginal tax rate.

Paying top marginal tax is the stuff of wage slaves.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Are North allowed to offer 7 year deals when they may not be around that long?

It's like a Dick Smith gift voucher Dusty - don't take it!!
Thats a really interesting point you raised.

Generally speaking if a Club were to fold, so to does the contract.

If we are being brutally honest of all the Clubs in the AFL and especially in Victoria, North would be right up there in folding first.

Maybe they can fully commit to Tasmania...

Oh boy! A half wit's attempt at humour...

Start saying your Hail Mary's for him to stay buddy...but then again you're seemingly a few beads short on your rosary anyway.

I see what you did there. No injury troll Sir. Martin went at pick 3 and neither are good enough to clean Cannington's boots.

luckily for North we left the r3ecruiting side to the experts, Barry has a role where he is more suited

Herald Sun, so I am not holding my breath.

Richmond will be armed with draft and free agency warchest if Dustin Martin joins North Melbourne

RICHMOND will be armed with three first-round draft picks and a recruiting warchest if raging Brownlow Medal favourite Dustin Martin accepts North Melbourne’s godfather offer.

The Herald Sun understands the Tigers will not match the Kangaroos’ contract, believed to be more than $10 million over seven seasons, for their restricted free agent.

On Tuesday, the AFL confirmed the maximum compensation the Tigers could receive for Martin would be a first-round pick tied to their ladder finish.

Rival list chiefs suggested the Tigers could then bank the cash saved on Martin and spend 12 months plotting a raid for Gold Coast superstar Tom Lynch.

The Suns’ co-captain becomes a restricted free agent next year and his retention could make or break the struggling franchise.

Landing Lynch, from Sorrento, would also ease the pressure on Jack Riewoldt, who will turn 31 in 2019.

Lynch, 24, was labelled the game’s No.1 player by Jonathan Brown and Dermott Brereton and could command the largest contract in the game’s history when his Gold Coast deal expires.

Richmond’s desire to lure a power forward was laid bare when the club confirmed its interest in No.2 draft pick Josh Schache.

Schache, 20, re-signed with the Brisbane Lions in June.

Richmond already owns Geelong’s first-round pick, which was received for losing Brett Deledio to GWS last October.

Based on current ladder order, losing Martin would deliver the Tigers picks 15 (their own selection), 16 (Martin compensation) and 17 (Geelong’s selection).

They have not boasted such a strong draft hand since activating five top-20 picks — led by Deledio at No.1 — in 2004.

One of their early selections would likely be used to match an expected first-round bid for father-son gun Patrick Naish.

The Kangaroos’ desperation to land a big fish has seen them up their offer for Martin as hope of trading for Greater Western Sydney’s Josh Kelly starts to wane.

Dustin Martin is being pursued by North Melbourne.
The Herald Sun recently revealed the cashed-up Kangas had enough salary cap space and board approval to poach both midfielders.

The Tigers are not prepared to sell the farm to keep Martin given Riewoldt, Brownlow Medallist Trent Cotchin, Alex Rance and prized recruit Dion Prestia are also on wealthy deals.

Martin and manager Ralph Carr will travel to New Zealand during the pre-finals bye to visit Martin’s father in a meeting expected to be pivotal to the explosive midfielder’s decision.

List expert Gary Buckenara recently said the Roos had to blow Richmond’s offer away by about $400,000 per season to lure Martin.

That discrepancy now seems a real prospect given the Tigers’ final offer is in the vicinity of $1.1 million per season.

“They need to do something pretty big … and get a big deal done for their own credibility,” Buckenara said.

Kangas legend Wayne Carey said his former club’s unprecedented offer for Martin would hamper future list decisions.

“They’d be neglecting their duty. That is too much money for one individual to come to that club,” Carey said on Channel 7.
