I've got absolutely no inside knowledge, but I'm guessing it's one of 2 things.
1. He was waiting for the CBA and we will see him sign in the next few weeks.
2. He's waiting for end of season when he has a high brownlow finish, another B&F, a high MVP finish to milk some more dollars as the Tigers are desperate to keep him.

He doesn't want to leave, he just wants the best money available that he can get from the Tigers.
Gale said last week they are expecting an answer from dusty in the next few weeks.

As in if he still doesn't tell them anything by then, they will allocate his money elsewhere/assume he's gone.

The end of season stuff doesn't come into it

The club's senior people have stated that they expect an answer fairly soon. And that they think they will re-sign him. No journo is saying he is aiming to go somewhere else. So, putting 2 and 2 together I imagine that Dusty is trying to get the best possible deal out of the Tigers, without blowing things up. Seems fair and reasonable. If it all breaks down then we see what happens. But all the news right now points to him staying, but at a lot more money.

The only shots fired in that article were pot-shots at the Hawks:

“There are alarm bells sounding around O’Meara,” he said. “His body must stand up — the recruiting team would be feeling a bit nervous right now given he has barely played and when he did, he was in and out before being sidelined indefinitely with knee problems.

“It’s a massive worry.

“The Hawks recruited Vickery in a bid to fill the David Hale role, and from a structure point of view I can see why they did it, but it hasn’t worked out and it doesn’t look like it will unless there is a major turnaround.”

Money might not even be a factor here. There's multiple reasons one changes jobs. It could be personal, new challenges, seeking a different environment. Or the number one reason, people don't leave jobs, they leave managers.

Only Dusty knows and only Dusty can speak for himself.
You're daft if you think otherwise.
If you're alluding to a rift or something between Martin and Dimma, you clearly know little about Martin and our club, Dimma has been a major factor in Martins life and footballing career, very well documented that Martin loves Hardwick.

The only motivating factor at play here is money, at 25 years old he has a chance to set himself up for the rest of his life.

Richmond fans, if Martin comes out and says he wants to go to a different club, obviously you will want your club to match solely so you keep your best player. But at the end of the day, if a player expresses interest in leaving - openly to the public - do you really want to keep him? Does that send the right message to your players, members, etc.?

I mean, sure, it has worked for Bryce Gibbs in the short-term, but he was contracted anyway, and might leave at the end of this year.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it might not just come down to the dollar. It may be a major reason why he leaves (if he does). At the end of the day, if he does leave it'd suck, but you will then have 1+ mill to offer Kelly or a Fyfe anyway, so it possibly isn't the end of the world if you can fill the void.
Worked out alright for Carlton and Gibbs.

Martin isn't your run of the mill footballer that you just let walk, and the club would be stupid to not match any offer (given the offer isn't something stupid in the Buddy vicinity) there is no way in hell the club would accept the compensation pick we would receive by letting him walk, imo if he wants out, it will end up being a Dangerfield type scenario where both clubs agree to do a trade so both parties are compensated, a mid teens pick for Martin which is likely what we would get if we didn't match will not cut it.

Paranoid much, I haven't been alluding to a rift between coaching staff and the players. In fact Martins said to have matured into an awesome bloke.

Although if you think money is the only deciding factor. I can't help you.

The only way Hawks could get Martin is to make an offer so big that Richmond can't match it, similar to what Sydney did to Buddy and Hawks had to accept pick 19 as compo. Unlikely it will happen but this is the only way it could get done.

Would be a massive get for the Hawks - it would also end a few careers that were 50/50 to play in 2018.

This is truly cutting edge stuff from Bucky.

Buckenara bases his premise on the fact that there is no evidence that Hawthorn has spoken to anyone.

Very edgy, indeed.
Because that's how they tend to work.

It is pretty funny that he's drawn the conclusion based on silence, but then again, maybe he's on the mark.

Everyone watches on with interest.

End of the day there wouldn't be an AFL team that would look to find away to bring Dusty to their club. Hawks have had great success at signing good players so it was a matter of time before someone linked them to this trade.

It's true.

I've read posters on other footy forums say more than 12 months ago that we were into him.

Time will tell.

are shit
No.

He has already agreed to North's offer. He is yours.

I've got bad news about Kelly though...
Yeah righto, some random gws supporter on bigfooty says Dusty has verbally agreed to come to North, yep.

How would you know this? Unless you are in fact Dusty.. I'm sure if what you said is true, then there would be multiple rumors about this going around from multiple sources.

Fair enough then, we'll know in a few weeks.
