Goodness gracious me! Haven't you read the past 60-odd pages?! No chance Martin even considers Hawthorn! He'll only be considering clubs who are the ones likely to win a flag soon like Richmond, St Kilda and North Melbourne. They're all well and truly due to win flags!

Am I the only one who isn't getting why Martin would leave for another Melbourne club? Unless Richmond's cap space is far tighter than I expected I don't think North/St Kilda/Hawthorn could offer substantially more money than Richmond and their short/middle-term hopes are if anything weaker than Richmond's.

Paranoid much, I haven't been alluding to a rift between coaching staff and the players. In fact Martins said to have matured into an awesome bloke.

Although if you think money is the only deciding factor. I can't help you.
Not paranoid at all, I'm actually very comfortable with the whole Martin contract situation, and yes you were making strong suggestions in the post I quoted of yours that the main reason why people leave there jobs is because of there managers (Hardwick being the manager) North supporters are slowly coming to the realisation that outside of $ Martin really has no reason to go to there club, and what ever offer North put on the table we can match and or best it.

It's going to be an enjoyable off season watching North scramble to try and get what ever scraps they can given both players they targetted are looking likely to stay at there original clubs.

I see comprehension is not your strong suit. Where did I say a rift between coach and player??
Football clubs have many layers, the football department is only part of it.

But in the end only Dusty knows what he wants to do.

Money might not even be a factor here. There's multiple reasons one changes jobs. It could be personal, new challenges, seeking a different environment. Or the number one reason, people don't leave jobs, they leave managers.

Only Dusty knows and only Dusty can speak for himself.
You're daft if you think otherwise.

And I quote, 'Or the number one reason, people don't leave jobs, they leave managers.'

If you didn't think, or weren't trying to suggest that Martin was/is/could/possibly be leaving because of Hardwick I'll happily eat my own hat.

Not that I think we're likely to get Dusty, but as I said yesterday or the day before, I do think that if you took Dusty (currently considered in the top 3-4 in the comp) out of Richmond's current team and added him to ours we'd have the capability to immediately be at least as good as they are now (as he would give our midfield the star-power/matchwinner we really lack) and I'd think that the 24yo and under talent that we have at the club is better/more advanced/proven, which could easily give us more scope for improvement from that point on.

Again I don't think it's going to happen though, as I reckon it would take a fair bit more money to get him to budge.

If you eat your hat, can you please post photos.
I was stating Dusty might not be leaving for money. You're reading into random post on an Internet forum far to much.

I'll eat my hat when Dusty pulls on a North jumper.

And you're the one trying to suggest that money isn't the only motivating factor in Dusty leaving, when, you've clearly been given evidence by many a Richmond supporters in here, including media people saying that money is pretty much the only factor in him putting off contract talks, if he's chasing success the top4 clubs don't have the cap room for him, and the only upcoming team that looks likely to have some sort of success other then my own team with cap space is St Kilda, if he wanted to move home he would choose Sydney or GWS but neither team have the cap room for him, so yes, money is the only motivating factor at play here.

Probably about right, but if Dusty were to leave, we'd have 3-4 first round draft picks this year to play with including $1M+ in cap space to really go hard St other clubs stars, we're in a good space at the moment to really make or break the club with this year's upcoming trade/draft period.

Heresay isn't classified as evidence, you're stating Dusty is only after money without any evidence because it fits your narrative. It's a pretty shit move if you ask me.

Only Dusty speaks for Dusty, and he hasn't spoken yet.

Gale said last week they are expecting an answer from dusty in the next few weeks.

As in if he still doesn't tell them anything by then, they will allocate his money elsewhere/assume he's gone.

The end of season stuff doesn't come into it
Respect!:thumbsu:

I'd hope my club would do the same thing under the same circumstances.

Pocket picks ~13, 14 & 16 and take that million bucks on a trading raid elsewhere.

Piss Off You Troll
Richmond fans, if Martin comes out and says he wants to go to a different club, obviously you will want your club to match solely so you keep your best player. But at the end of the day, if a player expresses interest in leaving - openly to the public - do you really want to keep him? Does that send the right message to your players, members, etc.?

I mean, sure, it has worked for Bryce Gibbs in the short-term, but he was contracted anyway, and might leave at the end of this year.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it might not just come down to the dollar. It may be a major reason why he leaves (if he does). At the end of the day, if he does leave it'd suck, but you will then have 1+ mill to offer Kelly or a Fyfe anyway, so it possibly isn't the end of the world if you can fill the void.
If he genuinely wanted to leave , I would have no issue with that and wish him the best at his new club. We have had 7 great years of Dusty and he probably has another 7 great years left and has every right to play where he wants and to earn the type of money he gets - Good luck to him

But the club who he goes to will have to pay up 2 first rounders otherwise he doesn't get there. It will get matched and traded if thats the case

are shit
North fans should skip to 44:14
Lmao August 2016

Obvious reason is because before this year, cotchin couldn't get a game against north, or could he? I wouldn't know I never saw him play against north ;)

And both were desperate to know what it feels like to beat north (not our 2nds) and clearly still hurting after they got whipped in an elimination final.

Of course you would.
What elite North player would you think another club would be targeting? Ziebell? Cunners? Take the picks and run with those guys.
Those two. Maybe Tarrant as well.

Brown @ 24 is also in the frame.

I think Gale is doing the right thing by his club by putting a time limit on this. If North really are in to Martin, then I hope we have a time limit in place also. No player is worth a bidding war.
