Yep, that's my point.
Any North player that walked, North supporters would be elated with first round compo for them. Understandable why a North supporter would just think a club should accept a first round compo for their player.
I wouldn't be "elated", that's what they are worth.

There is a formula in place that applies to all clubs.

North have lost players for a shit return over the years.

We got picks 25 & 41 for a bloke that ended up a double best and fairest, in a triple premiership team.

It's just how things go.

Martin is at a completely different level.
Look mate, IF he leaves, and I still think it's a big enough IF, then you had better look in your own back yard as to why this happened in the first place, rather than shit canning outsiders.

Yep, but that has no relation to the Martin situation.
Oh, and the Roos were happy with their compo in that trade.
Obviously didn't value him at the time.
He did kick on at the hawks though.
Of course we valued him, he played all 22 games in his last season with us, but he wanted out.

As for Martin, if it eventuates, you're just going to have to deal with it. Gale has indicated he won't be getting involved in any absurd tit for tat bidding war if the player doesn't want to be there. You should applaud his leadership.

What does Ty Vickery got to do with your teams incapability of recruiting a gun?

If you're gonna play that game then... Lake, Hale, Gibson, Gunston, Frawley, Dew, Burgoyne, Mitchell, Guerra & Gilham approve this message. All Premiership players apart from Tom, who is just a gun.

Buddy, not one of these players were considered a 'gun' at the time of trade. Other than perhaps Gibson and Burgoyne I wouldn't classify any of them as 'guns'. They were/are mostly role players who were fortunate enough to traded into a team which had guns, ie; Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis, Roughead, Franklin etc...etc...

But it you're going to play that game then...Do you need be reminded of NM's track record...? Robert Scott, John Blakey, Dean Laidley, Mark Roberts, Peter Bell, Winston Abraham, Martin Pike, Shannon Grant, Shane Clayton (edit ALL RECRUITS & SUBSEQUENT PREMIERSHIP PLAYERS). Once again, other than perhaps Peter Bell and Shannon Grant who became 'guns' they were largely role players who were fortunate enough to be traded into a team which had gun, ie; Carey, Longmire, Archer, McKernan, Schwass, Steven etc...etc...

Just go enjoy your club's terrific win last night!!

Excellent post.:thumbsu:

Christ, Peter Bell.

Discarded by Freo, no one wanted him, trains under Pagan for 20 minutes and gets a contract.

What a story he went on to be!

How long ago did Carey, Longmire.... Etc play around... Yeah mate we are talking about modern days of successful recruits, never said gun recruits, apart from refering to North not being able to recruit good players for Premiership success, let alone attract a gun when your club is not a powerhouse team.

You would judge a 8-10 career player on one season of his move which he is coming back from an injury. Give me a break & jog on.
Um 4 games in 2.5 seasons.
Didn't pass medical at 4 other club's.

If you want to bring up the last 4-5 years then we're extremely happy with Dal Santo, Higgins, Marley Williams & Nathan Hrovat. We are also happy with Waites first couple of years despite his injuries.

Anderson is our only fail at present.
