Jon Ralph put it perfectly on the weekend.
Why would Dusty leave playing in front of 80K at the G to play in front of 15K at Etihad haha..
No chance he leaves IMO.
This is the same reason why nobody rates Jon Ralph (who is "coincidentally", a one eyed Richmond supporter).

His articles of late have been exhibiting a kind of hysteria that would rank well around here. I suspect he actually posts on bigfooty.

Is there anything more hysterical than the thought of Dusty going to Nth Melbourne though...

I must admit, it would be hard to suppress the laughter if it actually occurred.

Some of you tiger fans have set yourselves up for a massive fall.

I don't think he'll leave but crowd numbers would have absolutely no bearing on his decision.

When do they have a bearing on anyone's decision?

It's absurd poppycock that is utilised by a player as a throwaway line AFTER the player has left a club.

Dusty played in front 90,186 at the MCG in the
2015 elimination final. I guess that's a little over 80,000 crowds.

The question is...why Nth Melbourne?

Where are all the Saints fans? That's the only other club Dusty would play for.
Money and a chance at success perhaps?

North has lost 4 games by under a goal this year. With a little more polish we'd have won those games and be firmly entrenched in the top 8, a player like Dusty or Kelly would add that polish.

Who knows why any player goes anywhere?

Oh I see, you're trying to start a conflict between North & StKilda supporters.

I haven't seen a single North poster on our board, or this one, that absolutely believes that Dustin is headed to North.

However, I have seen several Richmond supporters that appear to be shitting themselves at the prospect.

Not starting conflict at all. Not sure how you came to that conclusion.

My belief is that if Dusty were to leave Richmond, there's only one club he'd play for. St Kilda.

If the Tigers won their 4 close games this season we'd be clear top of the ladder? :drunk:

And what you're saying is IF you had Dusty you have won those 4 games and would be firmly in the 8 with 32 points? Richmond currently ARE on 32 points and in the 8?

So why would Dusty leave Richmond to essentially be in the same situation at North? Only it's not same situation is it? because Richmond's best 22 is younger and shown more.

That's bullshit.
Elite Victorian players don't leave to other Victorian teams especially ones below them on the ladder.
The star players who have moved the last 10 years
Judd- Homesick
Ablett- Never to be repeated offer
Franklin- Never to be repeated offer
Danger- Homesick
Beams- Homesick
Ryder/Carlisle -Drug saga
Burgoyne- Port thought his knees were done and he escaped a sinking ship

Plenty of B Grade Victorian players have swapped inside Victoria but generally at the blessing of their club for a nice FA pick or draft pick (Goddard/Dal Santo/Frawley) Or to get to a premiership side ( Hale/Lake/Gibson/Henderson etc

Point to me any evidence of a gun Vic player going to another Vic club for what would have to be close to the same money he would get at his existing club....
Go on I'll wait..

It won't happen. Flogs are just trolling. Dustys management knows eventually the Tigers will get desperate and try match the North and Saints offers
I'm not saying he will move I'm just saying it's a possibility. If you think Judd, Danger and Beams were all about homesickness you would have to be incredibly naive - but then, the fact you think there's no chance Dusty goes tells me that already. FYI the salary cap just went up by two million bucks and never to be repeated offers are very much on the table.

It's amazing what a couple of weeks of good ordinary footy can do to a players value around here.

If Dusty were to choose North then the number 1 jumper would fit him nicely.

Drew Petrie & Wayne Schimmelbusch's number 20 is also vacant, but I expect to see that on the back of Josh Kelly.

As for the coin, who knows what the price could be?

Richmond have threatened to pull the trigger first so they may only budget x amount for Martin after re-signing other players. Martin might tell them that he doesn't want to be at Richmond. Would they counter offer big bucks in the knowledge that they could end up with a player who doesn't want Richmond to be his preferred club? Who knows how this is going to play out. There are many unknown variables.

I can't see any club offering big coin and trading high picks for Dusty that would go beyond his compensation value.

No player in the competition is worth 2 x 1st round picks and 1.6 million dollars. None.

North are sitting 17th, so the PSD is a distinct possibility.
Any club that offers big coin, will know that he must be brought into the club and cant be reneged on. Clubs will bring in the player they have convinced to come and im pretty certain there would be paper work that would have been signed.

I know every supporter wants their club to get the free agent and not pay the trade but in this situation - They will cough up

Richmond has around 13-15 uncontracted players and possible to delist 8-10 without blinking if they have committed to another player they will not fall short of coin to match as they could always delist another 2-3 to match dustys offer and force the trade.

Hampson.Batchelor,Morris,Hunt,Townsend,Broad,Yarran,Elton,Maric,Miles,Lennon - All ready to be delisted and Richmond wouldn't skip a beat

North if they are Dusty's selected club will be giving up 2017 1st and probably either 2018 1st or 2017 2nd at the least

No one is reneging if they offer the dough but don't have/won't part with the picks.

No club can contract Dustin Martin until Richmond exercises its right of reply offer.

They might have a heads of agreement.

Yeah, because "this situation" is so different to any other trade.

Yeah righto, but don't be offended if I draw my conclusions from your C.E.O.

I don't reckon there is a snow flakes chance in hell of that happening.

Richmond need to be mindful that North may end up with PSD number two, and personally, I can't see Brisbane rolling the dice on a 26 year old (Happy Birthday Dusty:):thumbsu::rainbow:) for HUGE coin. They are more likely to invest in maintaining their own players.

However, I repeat, I don't think he's leaving Richmond.

LOL really you are so funny with what you just posted ? Why is it so difficult for you to believe that Richmond will match ?
And if Richmond match and North have agreed to terms with Dusty - Do you really believe they would say - Ohh sorry we thought they wouldnt so now we want to keep picks ?

Yes a heads of agreement will definitely be signed to ensure a commitment, I never mentioned contracts and if this HOA is there - Good luck in saying no we dont want to part with picks

Mate your club will pay if they want him

* LOL the old psd draft threat - Thats a Bigfooty fantasy never happens and will only happen if player and his original club have serious issue's - But thats not the case with Dusty

1st thing is he is extremely unlikely to leave & 2nd He wont screw richmond for another club who refused to trade for him when he is already going to get the same money

your arguments dont make alot of sense mate

Richmond may match, but they won't be bluffing as some draft pick bullying exercise.

No sane entity bluffs it's entire short term future with the PSD hanging over it's head. What are they going to do if Dustin does want to join North, hold out on a significant chunk of their salary cap in the hope he doesn't opt for the PSD? I'm sure there won't be too many problems in gauging Brisbane's stance on the issue.

This might happen in bigfooty fantasy land, but it doesn't happen in the real world.

I don't think Gale is full of shit, and I actually admire his stance. I would want my clubs CEO to do the same thing. The club is bigger than one individual.
