Your tin foil hat is to tight and has effected your short term memory. You forget Ralph Carr and how he operates. He has with dusty already waited till the end of season, openly showed dusty to other clubs gws was the last example and dusty re signed.

Sorry to shatter you and your fellow trade experts hopes but Dusty will stay a tiger for another 5 years. Carr is just loving the free exposure all this brings to build his stable
He was shopped around by richmond. His baggage created an issue like bennels did.

Lol richmond asked carr to go to gws? Mate if you believe that i have a unicorn to sell you.
Remember this genius also thought we should jump at the crappy AFL compo if his pauper club give us Lachie Hansen in exchange for some magic beans, so well established he doesn't have much of a clue outside the voices inside his head;)

No.

He looked around himself and was told, by us anyway, that we knew his heart is still with the Tigers.
No door was shut due to baggage.

Didn't he also tell SOS that the 2 people he admired most in footy were Hardwick and Williams?

I don't think he's going anywhere.

It was something like that, can't remember exactly.

FWIW I also heard at the start of the year from reliable sources one of the factors in delaying his contract was to make sure Hardwick wasn't sacked, he's very loyal to his mates.

Ralph took him to GWS on a tyre-kicking PR exercise.
In response to a series of questions from the Giants, Dusty had said in one of his conversations with GWS officials that Hardwick was someone he admired. GWS pretty much told Dusty to go back to Richmond, for it were obvious to them that's where his heart was.

Choco was sorting and paying his bills (physically, not financially) and helping Dusty manage day to day life.
Regardless of what those of us think of Hardwick as a coach, Martin has a strong affinity for Dimma, I'm not in the inner sanctum or the 4 walls or anything close to it, I do believe it is this that has played a role in Hardwick still being Richmond coach.

FWIW, the Richmond FC in its many different formats has nurtured and guided Dustin for a very long time, and protected him (chopstick gate, his father, underworld connections and rumours etc). I'm not saying he's going or staying, but I would ask anyone on here to put themselves in that position, and conclude where their own loyalties would lie, and at what point, does another club become a GAJ too good to refuse deal?

I'd happily pay 2 firsts for him, but just can't see him leaving the Tiges unless they lowball him (Which IMO is an offer less than 1.1m per year).

I get the impression that all this is simply to ensure that he gets the best possible offer from the Tiges, which he'll accept.

I figure we'll effectively get a 'discount'....If we're within 10-15% of what he gets offered elsewhere, he'll stay.

But given some of the numbers floated around, I'm not sure we should even get that close, if they're true of course. I struggle to see how any one player can be worth much more than around 10% of the total cap.

Yes, you're right - it generally costs more to extract a player rather than it would to retain him.

With regard to price, I suppose it comes down to how quickly his addition makes a team a contender. I may have rose tinted glasses on, but I think he puts us in the top 4 straight away, and who knows from there. If it means we're a real chance at winning even 1 flag in the 3-4 years after getting him, I'd pay him 1.5m a season.

A lot of truth and common sense coming out on this page. Going to hurt all the North supporters living in la la land.
Truth and common sense because it suits your agenda. I've heard from a reliable source that he's as good as gone. But continue covering your ears and shutting your eyes if it helps.

A lot of the stuff being sprouted on this page is common knowledge and isn't even coming from Richmond supporters. Nice try though.

And of course you've heard from a reliable source, random stranger from the internet. I feel so assured now!

He's the club physiotherapist so he would have some kind of idea.
I would happily place money on Dustin Martin not being a North Melbourne player next year.

Also lol, no way he is actually the club physio, just need a quick look at his posting history to realise this, like the club physio will join BF and openly pot his colleagues.
