Should play it at the G.

Richmond premiership legend Dustin Martin is noted to be in talks to play with a powerhouse NTFL club in a one-off game for the back half of the 2025-26 season.
It is understood the three-time Norm Smith medal winner will line up with St Mary’s, most likely in a Round 17 match against Waratah.

St Mary’s are that stage expected to have secured their spot among the NTFL top five given a strong start to the season for the league’s most successful club.

The 2017 Brownlow medallist retired from the AFL in 2024 closing out a storied career that included three premiership wins.

His venture to the Top End follows plenty of big name players including the recent Top End return of Willie Rioli and the one-off trip from Dane Swan.

Talks that the former AFL star would make the trip north have been swirling for the past couple of weeks, and were initially dismissed.

However, confirmation came this week with St Mary’s coach Anthony Vallejo indicating that talks were still in their infancy and a date had yet to be locked in but talks were looking promising.

“It’s early stage, we are trying to lock in a date that works with his schedule,” Vallejo said.

It's funny, I was there in 2019 and I don't remember him kicking 4. It was such an all-round team performance that day it sort of faded. In comparison, his 4 against Geelong the following year were each game-defining.
Let's not forget in 2019 he also gave a charity goal to Pickett. So he almost certainly would've kicked 5-goals. And he kicked 4-goals against the Cats in a shortened game, so that likely would've been 5-goals also. So playing full-time mid in 2017 he's kicked 2-goals and had 2 goal assists along with 29 touches at 83% (22 contested).

Then in 2019 and 2020 he's basically kicked back-to-back 5-goal hauls...all whilst being the primary focus of all opposition planning going into the game. as the pre-eminent finals player of his generation.

Freak.
