Bad luck missing out on Dustin. Was always a long shot.

No hard feelings as free agency often throws up these hail mary scenarios.

On to more important matters. That full forward of yours, Ben Brown?

We are prepared to offer one of our small forwards - minus Rioli - and throw in a 2 rounder for the lads services.

Anyone think Ralph Carr could be just releasing that article as a tactic to drive up prices even more?
As the fact he's saying before finals is implying he's staying at Richmond.
Could be some fear mongering to other clubs.
I do - I think that there's a fair chance that Carr are trying to extract maximum dollars from Richmond, using us to drive up the amount that Richmond pays to keep him, and he's doing brilliantly. Wasn't the original Richmond offer just $800,000 per year?

Carr is just taking the media/Richmond hysteria out of this for his client.

Pacify them until after the H & A season. It's a smart move.

Rance and the compo pick you get for Dusty and we might entertain it.:thumbsu:

What did Carr actually state?

Carr told Fairfax Media that a decision would likely be made in the break between round 23 and the start of the finals. "It's in Dustin's court. I am sure at the right time he will say to me: 'Right, we are ready, let's review it'. But he always said at the end of the season. I dare say that's at the end of the home-and-away season, I would think," he said."Nothing has changed. As I said last time, Dustin said he would deal with it at the end of the year. I am really just honouring his request. At the moment we are doing just what we should be doing as a manager, that is seeing it through as per Dustin's request."

"You would like to do well in the finals but I am just thrilled for Richmond – it's great to be in the top four. The Tigers' supporters have been waiting for this for a long time," Carr said.

Melbourne great Garry Lyon said on Footy Classified that "the talk of the last week or so is that financials are going to be pretty important otherwise why would you not sign". But Carr said he had not discussed Martin's thinking publicly. "I haven't spoken to a soul about Dustin, not a soul. If someone is going around saying that, it's the usual crap that is going on, with this sort of stuff," he said. Asked if he was happy with the Tigers' offer, or whether they needed to do more, Carr replied: "I can't talk about any of that. I would be disrespecting Richmond in this particular case."

On the Kangaroos' offer, it was a similar response. "Not only would I be disrespecting the clubs, I would be disrespecting Dustin," Carr said. Carr was in Hobart on Saturday and watched a rebuilding North Melbourne, at their surrogate home ground, topple Melbourne. The Roos are after not only a midfield gun but someone who can be a major marketing weapon. All Carr would say about the trip was: "I was just having a look around – watching a good game of footy."

I will actually change my view on this article after stripping out the detritus.

"likely", "dare", "think", "nothing has changed", "but", "I can't talk about any of that"

This is pure non committal time delay stuff. It's about getting the media heat off Dustin.

As for the Hobart comment...........well...........L.....O.....L

Hmm good point.
Also not sure i buy the whole "i was just looking around in Hobart" thing.
Time will tell.

Will be interesting where the Tigers finish

They have

Hawks
Geelong (SS) with Danger back
Freo (away)
St Kilda

I could see them losing 2 or even 3 of those.
Top 4 is fair from certain.
If Richmond miss out in the finals signed sealed and delivered out of Richmond. Well not winning a final also does that.

Said to my dad I wouldnt count them not making the finals altogether and he said no way......and I said umm it is the Tigers......its a Tiger thing to do.

What odds he comes out at the very end of August and states he won't be discussing the matter now as he wants to focus on the finals?
Good luck with your Chasing Rainbows recruiting strategy.

I sincerely wish you the best with your 2018 afl goals.

We're in the race to trade nothing for a guy that you will have to overpay to keep.

You understand if he comes to us we win.

If he doesn't come to us and you over pay we also win.
