I'm never venturing off the North board again. It's a battlefield out there. And not the love variety!

Can't you still PM people if you are banned for a period of time?

Someone send him a god damn private message!

I saw him on Saturday night. He said it's still happening.

Phew. I can rest easy. What a load off. If you're not too busy can you please see him tomorrow night to get another update, i can't wait til thursday.

Saturday night didn't end well. He said he didn't want to see my face again which I found to be quite rude and negative.

Shit! Lives too short for grudges. You should call him and apologise. Then when you are back on good terms ask him if it's still happening. It doesn't matter if he hates your guts, there are bigger issues at play here. More lives at stake.

My partner is pregnant and looks like shit in the mornings. Do i tell her that when she asks before she goes to work? No. I lie because i'm happy for her to ruin my life. If i didn't lie everyone around her would be miserable. I am making a difference.

What do you want to be remembered for? What can you do for others to make this board a better place? What is your true purpose on this board? You can step out of the shadows and into the light. You were meant for greatness Filth, you were meant for more than what you do for a living. You are an internal being, meant to inspire and help the North board...this is your calling. Make the call/PM.

Fine, I'll do it tomorrow.

NORTH Melbourne has had contract talks with a number of players put on hold while the club waits for answers from recruiting targets Dustin Martin and Josh Kelly.
The Kangaroos have delayed contract discussions with a range of older and younger players that are coming out of contract, in part because they need to allow space in the salary cap for two players who would potentially join them on more than a million dollars per season.

If Martin and/or Kelly opt to join the Kangaroos — and the former seems increasingly unlikely, given Richmond’s willingness to give Martin at least six years — then this would clearly impact on what they could pay others and even if they would be retained.

Older players who have had talks delayed include Jarrad Waite, Scott Thompson, Sam Gibson and Lachie Hansen, while middle-tier players Aaron Mullet and Ben Jacobs, too, have had their contract discussions put on the backburner.

Youngsters Declan Mountford and Corey Wagner also have been asked to wait before learning what kind of contract they will be offered, with discussions likely to be delayed until post-season. Daniel Nielson is set to join a host of youngsters who have re-signed with the Roos during this season.

Given that North is in the throes of a rebuild, there seems little chance that all four of those veterans — Waite, Thompson, Gibson and Hansen — will be retained. Waite has been outstanding on occasion, but 2017 has seen him often sidelined with injury, in a reversion to the pattern of his Carlton career.

The pursuit of Kelly and Martin is one of a number of factors in considering whether those veterans are offered contracts and on what terms.

Kelly is weighing up his future with Greater Western Sydney, having received a nine-year offer from North Melbourne worth close to $10 million. Carlton and St Kilda are the other clubs vying for Kelly’s signature should he decide to leave the Giants, who have a two-year offer on the table.

GWS has other out of contract players — notably Devon Smith and Jacob Hopper — whose future could be influenced by Kelly’s decision, since the Giants will have a much tighter salary cap if Kelly opts to stay. Smith has a two-year offer of about $500,000 a season on the table.

A few of you guys have asked and gone on and on about " Why has Dusty not signed if he wants to stay a tiger etc etc ?"

Let me pose this. The tigers and Dusty knew 6 months ago, he was staying at the club, just had finer details to work out. 3 months ago, Dusty is convinced the clubs on the right path and is happy with the coin. Due to Carr being on record they wanted to wait till the end of year, Dusty/Carr and the Tigers decide to create a win/win. They allow it to drag on, Carr gets exposure that money cant buy, Tigers on the other hand, have opposition clubs like yours being stalled in being able to lock in players as you cant commit cap space budgeted for Dusty.

Tigers meanwhile are working behind the scenes, talking to those uncontracted players being stalled by clubs like north and gws. Getting on the front foot, offering attractive offers as we also have a shit load of cap space. No lids, no yarran, no hampson and further delistings this year, while the cap has gone up by 20%. Essentially we pay Dusty 1.2 ( really a million considering the cap increase) for 7 years, lock him in as a one club player...while pinching one or two up and coming guns from teams like GWS and yours......its so crazy it may be true :p

I thought we had no guns/stars? Regardless most of them are contracted so you will only get the offcuts.

You're a bit old to be confusing satirical with real opinion but post away.

In the eventuality that Dusty stays at Richmond, it would be a case of Ralph Carr bucking the trend. That is, when "Has put off talks until the end of the year" generally means "Gone!", in this case it means "Squeeze every possible dollar and benefit you can out of the club/s".

Might this result in more managers taking this approach, or is this something Carr is more able to do than Stride, for example, because he has such a limited player stable? It certainly requires a player who is willing to put up with the year-long speculation and to hold their club ransom for the duration.
he's really playing with fire! he's only a knee reco away from disaster with this approach! knowing tigers luck, he re-signs and breaks a leg next week!

Are you doing all this so you don't get knocked out in the first week of finals every year?
Edit: :p

For the sake of argument, let's assume that we're not getting Josh, and that we now know this as a fact. Should we invest some of the money, that we would have spent on Josh, to lure Dustin. I realise that the tigers are almost certain to match whatever we offer, but in this hypothetical situation, what should our upper limit be? $1.5 M for seven years? Higher, or lower?

Absolutely. Get Martin for free (in trade terms) and can still take pick 3. Then pick up Kelly in 2 year's time. That's still a big win.

Not getting Josh should NOT link to upping our bait for Martin.

If he's not interested in an already generous offer and opts to remain with his club then no hard feelings, we walk away.

Your answer is very reasonable. Presumably, then, you don't want to break Richmond's salary cap?

Pointless.

Richmond will match the bid.

He has to want to leave for other reasons.
