I wouldnt swap him for any other young player in the afl.

Is a big bodied agressive midfielder that loves a goal and will only get better.

Superstar in the making

I actually rate Dustin Martin very highly but i still said disagree because in order to say yes, that means you have to rate Dustin Martin equal or better to every single young player out there. I'd personally prefer Rioli, Hill and Hurley just off the top of my head.

I guess the question is what's a "young" player. Obviously guys drafted before him will have had a longer time to show more (Rioli, Hill, Hurley).
If the OP was more specific comparing Martin to guys from his draft or younger than that would be a more compelling case.

I think Martin will be a 250 game star, but Dee's fans would argue the same for their first two picks, as would any club, pretty sure the gold coast boys wouldn't trade Swallow either, etc etc.

I wouldn't trade Martin (as a tiger fan), but other clubs fans would argue the same thing so its fairly irrelevant. Let's just wait and see how good he'l be rather than pump up his tyres with words, I think Martin is the type of player where his performance will do the talking.

Martin is the best young midfielder to hit the scene since Judd.

Just watch him play for five minutes. However, they're are better youngsters in the comp. Hill might not be as good (IMO his hurt factor is better but Martin is 'overall' a more 'complete' footballer at the moment) but I'd rather Hill at North because he will turn out better.

To be honest. I'd rather Cotchin at North. Has the inside game Martin has (Without the 'Get the **** outta my way' push Martin has) an d a much better outside game. Give it 5 years and Cotchin will be a top 5 mid.

Martin is an excellent young player, but obviously you wouldn't SWAP him for another promising young player... I personally think he'll turn out better than someone like Gary Rohan, but that doesn't mean that Sydney should swap Rohan for Martin either - Teams will always and should always stick by their own players, so the swap scenario is a little ridiculous.

That's way over the top. All midfielders have weaknesses and Martin is no exception. He lacks elite endurance, tries to do too much at times only to get caught, and often blazes away with a long kick downfield to no-one. Do I think he's a fine young player ? Yes. Do Trengove and Scully have weaknesses that they're also working on ? Yes.

There's much water to go under the bridge before making such bold declarations. Most Tigers fans rate Cotchin higher than Martin.

And Selwood is presently the best young mid since Judd.

Can vinnie be nicknamed the voice of reason? I've never seen vinnie write a bad post. Not surprising vinnie used to be a mod.

You can choose to draw a line at 80+ games or any number you choose to pull out of thin air. I'll go off what has actually happened in their careers so far.
i would not swap martin for any 18,19,20 or 21 year old in the game he will be the premier player in the competition in 3 to 4 years

As a Dees supporter I wouldn't swap either Scully or Trengove for Martin. ANd I doubt any Richmond supporters would swap Martin for either of Scully or Trengove.

MArtin is fantastic no doubt. However Tigers fans get far to carried away. Yes he played well the other night; 33 touches and 3.2 goals is of course more than note worthy, however you don't see Melbourne fans starting threads about Trengoves 29 touch 2.3 game last week.

Last time I checked, anyone was allowed to make thread about a player, regardless of the team they support.

And it was 4 goals.

Rustof, how many Disposals and Goals did Martin get against Collingwood the other week?

And who did Trengove get his 29 disposals and 2 goals against?
