May as well start this one with all the recent reports.
Context - Martin's manager Ralph Carr recently told Sydney-based The Daily Telegraph that "Dusty loves Sydney" and has "two years to go at Richmond". These comments were made despite the fact that he signed a seven year extension to stay with Richmond in 2017 which is set to expire in 2024. Buddy Franklin also happens to have two years (2021 & 2022) left on his massive Swans contract. The report also claims the now 29 year old Martin is attracted by a potential long-term contract in Sydney akin to Buddy's.
Further context - Dusty moved to Camden in Sydney's south-western suburbs at the age of 14 where he played footy for the Camden U16s, Ingleburn U16s and Campbelltown U18s. The Swans reached out to the 15 year old Martin at the time and asked him to join their academy program but he declined the offer and returned to Castlemaine the following year.
Even more context - A 22 year old Dusty walked out on the Richmond Football Club in mid-September 2013 and flew up to Sydney where he was photographed touring GWS's new facilities (see below) that were under construction then. His father was living in Sydney at the time and the Giants had reportedly offered Dusty a multi-million dollar contract to make the move north. It didn't eventuate and Martin returned to Melbourne to re-sign with Richmond two weeks later for considerably less money.
