Well, the civil war hasn't happened yet, but Sara Duterte just lit a fuse.

In a dramatic sign of a widening rift between the two most powerful political families in the Southeast Asian nation, Duterte told an early morning press conference that she had spoken to an assassin and instructed him to kill Marcos, his wife and the speaker of the Philippine House if she were to be killed.

“I have talked to a person. I said, if I get killed, go kill BBM (Marcos), (first lady) Liza Araneta, and (Speaker) Martin Romualdez. No joke. No joke,” Duterte said in the profanity-laden briefing. “I said, do not stop until you kill them and then he said yes.”

The military hierarchy (the high ranking generals) are generally on the side of Marcos, since their history consists of training in US military academies and education in the mechanics of pro US geopolitical strategy.

In an ideal world, the CCP would withdraw from the islands they stole from the Philippines, pay compensation for the economic damage and injuries suffered by the Philippines people and then the Philippines wouldn't be asking the US, Japan and others for help and can grow into the richer peaceful and independent democracy it should be.

Lol - did you get those points directly from Beijing or via Tik Tok whose algorithms are controlled by the CCP.

1) US bases near China are at the invitation of partners who are increasingly scared of the CCP's aggressive behaviour and threats. As I said earlier, the US was leaving the region until Xi started his campaign.
2) US weaponising Taiwan. US sold them 66 F16s to replace obsolete aircraft, the CCP has over 3000 fighters and regularly sends dozens into peaceful independent Taiwan's airspace to threaten them.
3) CCP stands for Chinese Communist Party and there is over whelming evidence of the CCP's genocidal behaviour against the Xuighars and in Tibet. But I don't think the US government needs to prepare anyone for war, the CCP's aggression to its neighbours including the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan and Indonesia makes people realise that the current CCP dictatorship is a threat.

I guess you believe in bystander behaviour is good and if a friend was begging for help while being beaten up by a far bigger bully, you would say they can sort it out - noone else should get involved.

If the CCP stayed on the peaceful growth path it was on before XI took the country backwards to satisfy his own desire for power and wealth (his family is one of the wealthiest and most corrupt in the CCP), then the world would be a far better place. Fortunately, it looks like the great Chinese people have had enough given how many CCP leaders, Xi is having to arrest or disappear to maintain his power base.

It isn't really the CCP and certainly isn't the wonderful Chinese people who are the problem, it is down to one dictator - very similar to the US where Trump has taken them down the wrong path.
