Reminds me of the Kevin Bartlett habit of getting indigenous players mixed up. If you ever listen to SEN and he's calling Aaron Davey there's every possible chance it was Jamie Bennell.

Russell has always tried to make up his own commentary language hoping it catches on but he fails most of the time.

Although he did give us one comment that my mates use in every game we play: 'Gives it some sky!'

That's it right there, I'm sure some of these clowns consciously try and invent new phrases, instead of just calling the game.

Russell is comfortably the worst caller I've ever heard. Idiotic phrases that he endlessly repeats, he only has one volume - screaming, total inability to let the game flow and speak for itself. He's horrendous.

Even reading this people have spoken to Fox about his performance. To me that justifies him being on there. How many times has Fox Sports been mentioned in this thread?

Seems like he has been told to work people up from any team. He brings up moments during games for the teams that he commentating on that would irritate the fans of those teams, in my view delibrately.

Asks ridiculous questions during the games that must irritate the other commentators as well, but to stay professional they humour him. Makes it ripe for a 12th Man style parody "geez you're #$%^&* in the head sometimes Dwayne". Deliberate or not, he's got so many faults it's hard to know where to begin.

The nightmares don't get any worse for a commentator than this.

Mattner goes down clutching his shoulder and in extreme pain in the third quarter in the game against the Bulldogs.

Russell acts concerned and makes an immediate medical diagnosis telling us that Mattner is done for the day.

This happened with 18:06 to go in the third quarter.

I turned to my mate and said to him that I'll bet he'll be back on before three quarter time.

He replied by saying you do realise Dwayne Russell made the comment and makes his living from exaggerating and that Mattner will probably back on within five minutes.

With 14:11 to go in the third quarter, do my eyes deceive me or is that Mattner running back on the field unimpeded.

The amount of back peddling Russell did for the next few minutes was completely cringeworthy.

The whole fiasco sums Russell up in a nutshell. I've never met a footy follower who likes or respects him.

Yes, the three/four word hyperbolic summary of every goal really does get tiresome, doesn't it? Why does he have do it EVERY ****ing time?!

Also, he ruined Boomer Harvey's great goal a couple of weeks ago by screaming "OH BABY!!!!" when he slotted it. 'Oh baby', Dwayne? Orly?
