Rapidly emerging commentator Dwayne Russell from Fox Sports and top Melbourne radio is also expected to be hot property as Seven establishes two new commentary teams from next season.

Just more indication that the sports media refuse to objectively evaluate a commentators performance. Its all in who you know.

I have normally not had a probem with Russell, but damn he made three completely incorrect calls when commentating in the one game on the weekend. it was Port and Brisbane, and on no less than three occasions he called the wrong free kick/decision following the whistle, including one where the boundary stated touched yet Russell immediately called out on the full.

I then realised he must never looks at the umpire when the whistle is blown. MOre annoyingly he doesn't correct himself when it is obvious to all he called it wrong.

he is not alone here, many commentators simply go silent when they call black as white and allow the other commentator to move on with the play. Slighly cowardish.

It's not that hard Dwayne.

If Dwayne goes to Seven he'll be commentating only one game a week, instead of sometimes 2 on Fox.

If anyone does get a copy - although I'm not sure why anyone would want to, except perhaps for the chance to abuse him - you could flip through a few pages, then go up to Dwayne and say, "That's as good as it gets?"

Or skim read a bit, point to a page and say, “That could be the firestarter!”
