Derrrr-wayne is back with a vengeance. Brodie Smith has a couple disposals in the space of 10 seconds. The first time he calls him Smith, the second Martin. That was the third time I heard him confuse the two... idiot

Made a last minute decision to stay at home, and regretted it as soon as I heard his voice.

How was Shaw's comments though...

Paraphrased:

"Douglas was one of the Crows leading goalkickers last year, so it's important for guys like McKernan to step up".

Seriously? Douglas was fifth leading goal kicker...number one and two were key forwards. Shaw should respect the footy public by retiring as a commentator.

Shaw is a disgrace of a commentator. NFI about teams outside of Collingwood.

Crows need a bit marking target (Tippett champ).

Russell is just cringworthy. Non stop.

I particularly liked how he said with the advent of McKernan "now Griffin can be released up forward"... we all know he meant Tippett and Healy/Russell clearly corrected him but geez that's a big gaffe.

IIRC Healy initially agreed with him. I was shocked considering Healy is a notably big fan of us.

Must have just been Shaw's idiodicy spreading across the commentary box. ;)

As for Russell, he's an absolute spud but everyone knows that. Hates the Crows with a passion and whether it be subtle or obvious, a clear venom comes across with many of his comments. The Dangerfield one was superb.

Just watched the Port game again. The commentators kept on talking about Adelaide players until they sounded stupid. Had a feeling that the did not know most of the Port players. Young men playing their first game deserved more respect and knowledge that the commentary team provided.

During the Port V Crows game he was barracking more than commentating. It was really pathetic. Towards the end of the game, when it looked like his beloved Port Power were in for a thrashing, he even brought up the Thomas tackle on Henstchel showing even the most "intelligent" Port supporter resort back to the gutter when under pressure.

I don’t know why any of you are surprised. All of them, from the channel 7 numbnuts on Friday Night Football to Steven Quatermain and Robert Walls on the Channel Ten coverage via the Foxtel lot are all ego driven buffoons who do about 5 seconds of research beforehand and then pass it of as gospel information.

VB has his kick smothered. Ball goes out of bounds. Umpire says throw in. VB mistakenly thinks it's his free kick because of the new rule and decides to kick it in.

Dwayne Russell: Now is that 50m?!?!?

Even worse Russell proceeded to go on a tirade about how VB should know the rules and that a free kick should be paid against him.

You know, like no one else on the ground thought it was their ball after any contest near the boundary...

In fact only moments later Westhoff did virtually the exact same thing and Russell didn't utter a word.

More a reflection on the confusion of the rule IMO.

What would happen in a regular season game if it was a ball-up and the player kicked the ball away willfully with no clear direction to take a kick from an umpire? Can you get pinged for that?
