At the risk of deflecting from the pile-on - Derrrrwayne is really no different that most of the other callers who during the production briefings held just prior to the start of matches, are ALL reminded and encouraged by the producer to 'entertain' with 'exciting' commentary...

I suspect this has also contributed to the fact that a few others, such as JB and Hudson, have for some reason both started screaming 'UNBELEIVEBLE!' and 'INCREDIBLE!' during matches at every opportunity...?

Related, a friend who knows JB quite well, going back to their cricket days, emailed him last year to remind him that when Dick Lee took that iconic mark over 100 years ago it was reported by scribes of the day as, quote; 'a fair effort'. Apparently JB's response was; 'Relevance?'....

No argument from me, just offering some context.

BTW, a recent caller to SEN asked Derrrrwayne to explain the difference in 'a dance and a drop step'. Derrrrwayne, not realizing it was a wind-up, then went into a long spiel about basketball parlance and how this was similar to footballers actions blah blah blah, during which time the caller simply hung up....

Agree that nearly all modern commentators are way over the top but Derwayne is miles worse than anyone else.

JB fell out of a Kyber Pass

Of the Fox footy presenters and their by-lines, pick the odd one out:

Dermott Brereton (5-time Premiership Player), Nick Riewoldt (5-time All Australian), Jonathon Brown (3-time Premiership player), Dwayne Russell
(50 games Geelong), Jason Dunstall (1254 career goals), Brad Johnson (6-time All Australian), David King (2-time Premiership player), Jordan Lewis (4-time Premiership player)...?

To Derrrrrwayne's credit he has correctly realized the absurdity of his by-line in comparison with his co-presenters, so he's obviously had a word to producers who have since changed this to; Dwayne Russell (A dance/drop/hesi step/Oh baby Commentator).

The guy wouldn't have a job calling footy if the late Clintopn Grybas was still with us , he was also Johnny on the spot when David Hookes passed away and got his job on Sports Today hosting with Gerard Healy.
Talk about opportunist.

Every human on earth is an opportunist, that's what humans do.
Cheer up.

If you're going to Marvel tomorrow I suggest you be extra vigilant with your wallet, it sounds like there's been an increase of pick-pocketing at the ground lately

Calling GWS v GC on Fox today. Rory Atkins gets the ball.

"The Rat. In Ballarat".

Entire commentary explodes with laughter.

The bar continues to touch the ground.

At the end of every quarter...."There's still time for a crazy free kick".

Every.*******.quarter.

And no, it doesn't have to be a crazy free kick. It can be a regular, every day, banal as * free kick and it will have the same result.

And stop ******* saying crazy. Learn a new adjective dickhead, not everything is crazy.
