Every other club knows that and would know we will do all in our power to ensure that he comes home.

From what I have read about his development, it sounds like he was destined to be a first rounder anyway... so we spend our first round pick getting someone who will be a star for the club...

The thing that I am going to hate is when SoS's boys are ready to enter the draft... because there is no way Carlton isnt going to be drafting those boys... not with the heritage they have :)

if he is half of what his old man was, he is going to be something very ****ing special... but I suspect that he is going to be a lot better than his dad :)
 
Hard to make a call this far out...but from what I've seen, if he cpntinues to develop pick 21 isn't going to be OTT. That's if somebody that finishes below us on the ladder does bid a first rounder for him...otherwise we get him cheaper.

The Club had to act this year as GWS can take him as a 17yo at the end of the year.

This way they can't touch him Harks :)

You little ripper! Just as the g17 are about to rip through all the young talent the old dark navy blues snap up a potential top 5 draft pick. Congats Dylan and well done Swanny, Dick would be 1 happy camper up in the sky today.

He is special. He is a bloody beauty and you could have picked him to play AFL when he was 10.
He is a natural who also works hard - you can't complain

Almost positive I heard Swann say they couldn't otherwise with all their picks we wouldn't stand a chance and would have to offer up our first round. Other clubs might do but unlikely knowing he is a Carlton boy.
 
Is it abit worrying that I'm excited as hell that we got him... even though i know jack about him and he is just a kid.. but I'm a happy camper...

Is there still any sort of zoning thing where we have priority over players that are from a close vacinity to Vist Park or are from Carlton? I don't think there is but I think at one stage there was, can't remember. If there is does he live in this zone?

The interesting part was

The AFL has ruled that the father-son rule takes precedence over players who can be listed by GWS or Gold Coast, but if a worse performing club offers its first pick for Buckley Jr, the Blues would have to match it with the same.

Sounds like the GWS won't be able to take part in f/s bidding !!!!!!!!!!!!! (wonder if that's the same for the GC17 in this years draft ???)
