:) Does anyone know if Dylan is going to not nominate next year so we can take him as a F/S pick in 2011, or is he going to go to GWS? Hope he holds off for the year and we get him, especially seeing as Jimmy still seems to love the club and would be great to see Dylan in Navy Blue. Anyone know where this is all going?

Got talking to Dylan last year at his Dads 50th and he indicated that he would be holding off on nominating for the draft until he would be able to be taken f/s by the Blues.

If anyone is interested in seeing him play, go and watch the Northern Knights this year. He's a ripping little player, with great balance, and good skills. There's no chance at all we'll pass him up under the F/S selection.
HBF - is he a 'Kane Lucas' sort of player?

I've only seen him play once C4, and that was a schoolboys game. He does have similar traits, given his poise and composure with the footy, and like I said, he does kick the footy very well. I'll give you an update through the year.

Hold on a sec, I didn't think the draft concessions afforded to GC and GWS allowed them to contravene a F/S selection.

Is the question whether or not he'll nominate for F/S?

Or have F/S selctions been cancelled for the GC and GWS drafts?

Father-Son rules apply as per normal. The bidding system does apply though, so if we say we are going to take Dylan Buckley with our 3rd round pick and another club throws up their 2nd round pick, we have to match it or we can lose him.

Hopefully no one else shows any interest and we can get him cheap.

Father/Son rule still applies, the club can take them with their LAST draft pick unless there is a bid for the player. In the case of Dylan, there will definately be a bid as he is in the AIS squad. GWS have a truckload of first round draft picks so i am not sure how a bidding system would work in this case, do they have to use pick one if they bid a first round pick? He will definately go first round, 2nd at the latest.
There is however one small catch, Dylan is born in the early part of the year and can be taken by GWS THIS year, just as GC17 have signed up 12 17 yo's. If Dylan says no to them then he will enter the 2011 draft, assuming there is no penalty for refusing GWS.`

I thought it was "next available" though. Meaning if we had pick 21 (second round), and pick 38 (third round), and a club used their second round (23 overall), we could still throw up our 3rd rounder ...

GC & GWS can select any ex-players first male child whilst still in utero. :thumbsd:

One of these pieces of advice is not like the other one. Hats off, K-Man. :thumbsu:

I think Dayne Beams was given the choice to join the squad of 17 year olds or nominate for the draft.

Can someone tell me what happens if in trade week we were to off load out first or even first and second pick for a player and then come draft day (or week leading up to it) another side says they'll use their first round pick on him. So for example:

Carlton off load pick 8 (first rounder), pick 24 (second rounder) and say Sam Jacobs for Jordan Roughead in trade week,
Then we'll say Richmond offer pick 1 for Dylan in the week leading up to draft week.

As our best remaining draft pick is 40, does that mean as long as we use that on him it is all sweet, or have we done and dusted out chance to pick him up because we traded the first two picks away??

i can't imagine we have to nominate him before the draft, because no one really knows what picks they'll have until draft week is complete.

This then brings up the question, if we can do the above example, and this kid really is as good as they say, we'd be crazy to hang on to our first round pick when we'll get him for a much cheaper price by offloading out early picks for another star.

anyway, i'm sure the AFL are all over this and have a way of stopping it.

Imagine away. F/S nominations close before trade week if I recall correctly.
