What a ridiculous process. In that case it would be negligent of any club below us NOT to make a bid for him.

Teams with absolutely no interest in recruiting him can - and will - safely force us to spend our first rounder with absolutely no risk to themselves.

All it does is let struggling clubs ensure others pay a premium to keep family players.

I know dylan pretty well and we have chats fairly often and he says his number 1 prefference is Carlton but recently both the gold coast and gws have shown alot of interest in him but nothing to worry about he will end up at Carlton.

in reality thats true, but no club will risk over paying just to that. If they offer their 1st pick, and he isn't worth a 1st pick, it could turn around and bite them in the butt.

Other than Gibbs, Murphy, Yarran, Houlihan & Scotland we are desperately lacking in this field

He has excellent foot skills, on BOTH feet. Will become an elite of the game.

Is there still any sort of zoning thing where we have priority over players that are from a close vacinity to Vist Park or are from Carlton? I don't think there is but I think at one stage there was, can't remember. If there is does he live in this zone?

If zoning still applied he would be ours as well.

The way I have read the whole thing (which could quite possibly be wrong) is that we WILL be using our 1st rd pick on Dylan NO MATTER WHAT .............

By committing to him to prevent the GWS taking him as an uncontracted player we have basically declared him as our 1st rd pick in 2011, much like Swallow has been declared (effectively) the #1 pick from this year's draft. IF Carlton was to back flip and NOT take him with their 1st rd pick then GWS have been screwed out of the chance to get him for free as an under aged 17 yr old, and Dylan has been screwed out of a year's wages and development with the GWS team ............... We all know that the AFL won't let it's baby, the GWS, get screwed over and the CFC won't screw over a club legend's son (we would be a laughing stock if we did)

I would say this deal is been in the workings for a pretty long time, and today was the day it was finally approed/they decided to announce it (may have had something to do with Dylan turning 17 ???)
