I think I remember reading somewhere that one more hamstring injury and he would’ve retired when he was having all of those issues. Glad that one more never came and he got to fulfil his AFL career.

Vlaustin more than handy as well. The Richmond quartet of Vlaustin, Rance, astbury and grimes will be looked back on as one of the great defences in years to come. All are outstanding players.

Reminds me a bit of the Leppitsch, Michael, Johnson, Ashcroft, Pike, White, Hart, B. Scott / C. Scott, that the Lions triple premiership teams had. Hard and tough, skilled and aggressive.

Yep I would have had him in too, also believe Neville Jetta should have definitely been in the squad, if not the team (could be my bias talking).

Personally rate the defenders who consistently neutralise the most dangerous forwards over high possession rebounding type players, though both are obviously important.

Do you actually comprehend what overrated means? Most people would say Grimes does a great job week in week out, performs when it counts and rarely gets beaten. How would you rate someone with that sort of record? But I suppose opinions are like a*** holes. Everyones got one.

He is a decent footballer. Anything over and above that is inventing a story.

If I recall correctly he ended up going to Germany for treatment which seems to have worked well.

He was on Puopolo for the majority of the night...he did take care of him though.

Grimes does a lot more than the AFL standard player, thats why he was listed in the AA squad which puts him firmly in the top rung of players in the AFL, rarely ever gets beaten 1 on 1 and can play on tall and short.

We're lucky to have a backline full of decent intercept marks it allows Rance to run off his players where his ball use can help set up attack, the beauty of Grimes is his ability to go on a small or tall, he is a lot quicker than most think, proven by his run down tackle v Collingwood earlier in the year,.very good in the air or on the ground.

Destroyed? he had 9 disposals 3 marks and 2 goals, Grimes had 7 disposals 2 marks 6 tackles so maybe Wood just won the battle but hardly destroyed, neither in the best players.

To be fair, Adelaide's upper class is probably the equivalent of living in Frankston in Victoria.
