I'm not sure Eddie Betts would share your opinion after Grimes kept him to 7 disposals and 1 goal (from a Vlastuin fumble) in the 2017 GF.

It doesn't? I would have thought standing up on the biggest occasion of all is hugely relevant to how highly you're rated. Eddie Betts came into the match as a forward pocket in the 2017 All-Australian selection on the back of 54 goals. In his previous two finals he had kicked 5 goals to go with 4 goal assists and had 16 score involvements. Grimes kept him to 1 goal, no goal assists and just the 3 score involvements.
Rate. Highly.

NO! Sorry to interrupt a thread ona player who thoroughly deserves it but this ridiculous theory on Rance keeps coming up so much it’s spoken about like fact. Rance plays full back every game so is NEVER a free man. The reason his opponents aren’t always the best forward is because his reading of the ball and positioning means that opposition clubs will choose to PUT A MAN ON HIM, that’s how good he is, like Scarlett and SOS they read the play so well their positioning gives the other defenders the ability to play the zone closer to their opponent. It’s bloody good to see Grimes starting to get plaudits outside of the club though.

Do you actually comprehend what overrated means? Most people would say Grimes does a great job week in week out, performs when it counts and rarely gets beaten. How would you rate someone with that sort of record? But I suppose opinions are like a*** holes. Everyones got one.
Vlaustin more than handy as well. The Richmond quartet of Vlaustin, Rance, astbury and grimes will be looked back on as one of the great defences in years to come. All are outstanding players.
