If he does go, which i hope he doesn't, i'll be watching with interest to see whether we get more or less than Koby Stevens. It's funny watching the Eagles propaganda machine, "tough" Eagles midfielder seeks trade, "hard nut" Koby Stevens leaves nest, "highly touted" junior seeks opportunities. I don't see how he's rated better than Roberton.

I've seen him play some pretty good games for East Perth where he tends to push up into the midfield a bit more than what he does when he gets a game in the AFL. I reckon that he'll be ok, probably won't ever will be a star, but he could be pretty serviceable as a primarily defensive half back flanker who can also offer some rebound. If he does come on the market, he'd be worth a look, but can't see anything more than around the pick 30 given up.

Considering the injury run at Fremantle over the past 2 or 3 years and the resulting game allocation to younger players, how do any of those 3 comparisons indicate that one player is better than the other?

Maybe draft position suggests that, in 2009, West Coast rated Stevens higher but that's just 1 club 3 years ago.

Considering your injury run this year, and the amount of games Koby got this year should give a better indication of how he has developed since being drafted. Roberton broke into our backline without injury letting him in and played a fair few games before being forced out by Spurr who was a mature age 25 year old half back flank who was dominating the SANFL last year.

It could be one or the other but certainly wont be both,I doubt that Freo will want to give up their second rounder though

Roberton was part of our injury run last year. Otherwise he would have played more games.

As a tall rebounding defender I think Roberton was forced out by Johnson (and to a lesser extent McPhee) this year. Spurr replaced Broughton.
 
Dylan who? They'd be lucky for anyone to offer anything for him. Maybe a pick in the 50s but more likely to get nothing for him.

great contribution,considering he has played 3 times the ammount of AFL games as Stevens ...it would seem he should /would be worth as much

If you read any of my posts about Koby Stevens I don't think he is worth anything. I would give him away for nothing.... and stated it several times.

These borderline list fillers the likes of Roberton and Stevens for some reason seem to have their value increased when it comes to trade time... because people think they are talented yet starved for games. I don't know about Roberton but Stevens didn't get picked because his skills and talent were seen as less than others we did pick. Nothing to do with opportunity.

These players at the end of the day are never going to be anything other than servicable at best and a 16-28 ranked player on a list. Would you give up a 1st or 2nd round pick for a guy that is barely going to make your best 22? I wouldn't.

At the risk of agreeing with a WC supporter, I could see this happening. Mainly because we might not have many actual picks during the draft due to upgrading Clancee and Lee Spurr. From memory, we need to have three picks and we only have one spots on the main list at the moment. I can't see a lot of players up for the chop at the moment, so only cutting another two wouldn't be too hard if we can't trade any...I hope it's Chriton and Jack Anthony (paid out).

Thought you were just having a crack because he played for Freo.......Dylan who ?? and likely to get nothing for him comments, Just annoyed with the people talking up Stevens and Mitch Brown when in reality they are no better than Roberton,I agree all 3 should be rated no higher than a second rounder

Get your facts straight you idiot. Collingwood have spoken to the club about him. And at the start of this year EP's coach was quoted saying that Roberton is very important to his team.

It makes no sense arguing which fringe player is better.

How would you know if anyone has spoken to Roberton you pratt !! Coby Stevens has slutted himself around to 5 clubs and still no takers.... penny dropped when they remembered that Swift was preferred to Stevens......nuff said

If you seriously think that Mitch Brown is no better than Roberton, you need to get out and watch a bit more footy. I'm an East Perth member and I groan whenever I see him and Pitt "available" to play for the Royals. I hope Roberton does return to Victoria and I hope he takes Pitt with him and that way I won't have to see them in blue and black next season.
 
Roberton had been good for you this year when played at half back. He was rubbish on the wing where I can only gather Freo wanted him to play.

When I watch the footy I dont wear blue and yella glasses,Ive watched plenty of East Freo games this year and Brown looked bloody awful for the majority of the year,played a couple of serviceable games near the end but his biggest claim to fame this year was bashing a 18yo behind play,seriously the bloke is a lemon.
Roberton was frequently in E.Perths best players (when not playing for Freo) so maybe you need to get out ,remove your glasses and watch abit more footy
