There is just as much chance that they will be upgraded in a year or two. Especially Schloithe, if he continues to improve next year. We may have jagged a beauty with him.

You dont follow the WAFL much do you? Both have shown plenty this year. especially Menegola who has had a couple BOGs for East Freo

I did say IF!

I do know they are highly rated rookies and all I get to read is the WAFL watch reports and the occasional highlight video.

I get that Roberton wants to go home, and that his gf/wife is pregnant. But really to me it looks like he is making a bit of a mistake. He has an opportunity to build a career here, and has some respect around the club. We are a club that he can get an opportunity with, and he should be looking at Skeletor and thinking that he could get his spot in a years time.

The draft is a gamble, especially for a guy who seems to have attracted zero trade interest. I just wonder if he could be making a very poor career decision. I could see it panning out with him being Rookie listed somewhere.

I reckon one of the Vic teams has probably been in his ear. He'll get picked up, I have no doubt about it.
 
To me you straight up facilitate the Roberton trade - fringe player, genuine reason & not nominating a single club to drive down value.

Tick, tick, tick - get him home.

One of the problems is we think he may have something, however I also thought Andrew Browne was good and loved the promise I saw in Hall.

The AFL and footy clubs are big businesses, however they are still footy clubs.

Plus he who lives by the PSD, dies by the PSD.

Agree with you on all counts. I'd like to see him get back to Melbourne.

The trick is, how to do it. If we keep trying to trade and realise no one is going to come to the party, do we deliberately delist him with enough time to be picked up as a free agent? Or try to make a late round trade for a nominal pick... that we mightn't end up using? If the first... how long has he got before the free agency period closes?

Forcing him to go to the draft or PSD wouldn't be something the club would do deliberately I'd expect. Pretty unpleasant thing to do as he's done all of the things you've indicated (not nominating a single club is a major one!), so I reckon they'll do what they can to get him back to Melbourne. Will be interesting to see how they manage it.

EDIT: Looks like free agency ends today. Not much time for that option then. Hopefully a 3rd round pick or some token gesture will be offered up by another mob, Griffin style, to get Robbo to Melbourne.
 
The free agency period specifically for delisted players begins after trade period ends, we have weeks of this to go yet!

if that is the case and he is picked up in the rookie draft, won't he be on a rookie's wage?
nappies & the like aren't cheap
unless they pick him up in the PSD.
 
I think a few things suck for Dylan, some clubs still think Jordan Russell is a good player and may give him a 2nd shot. Given both play a similar role and Russell comes free the trade currency for Dylan goes down.

Most clubs rate Ben Jacobs from Port as a better defender than Dylan (rightly or wrongly) and he holds more trade currency. So until Jacobs deal is done, i can't see a club approaching us regarding a trade.

It is looking likely that we will have 2 picks. I guess there could be more. I am not sure if a trade of Roberton would improve our situation in a meaningful way.

We look to have drafted well in the last few years, and the older brigade are playing decent footy and are willing to stick around. If there's a year for us to let him go for nothing, this is it.

Like everyone, I want my club to be a class act. A million things are more important than football, and I have no doubt we're keeping this in mind. Whatever happens, happens, and I think we'll do all we can to get him to Victoria.

It must be hard to watch the WAFL highlights or a game when living in Vic. I didn't get to see much WAFL this year myself but watched one game of Souths when Schloithe looked really hard at it.

Yeah, what makes it worse is I don't have Foxtel in my apartment so I miss out on a lot of general footy shows and highlights. I'm moving into my first house this week and Foxtel is on the cards now.
I have managed to watch a few WAFL games delayed this year through ABC iView. Do they ever show highlights of WAFL games on Fox Footy or Fox Sports?
I actually think Schloithe will play a few games next year providing we lose someone to an LTI.

Hopefully if there is anyone at all showing any interest, we do the right thing and trade him for whatever we can. I'd be happy for the kid to end up somewhere in Melbourne, even if we only get pick 100. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he's rookied somewhere though, meaning he'll have to wait to know his fate.

I don't have Fox so I don't know but ABC do a great job and iView is great. One of the best games I saw of WAFL on TV last season was when Mora and Sheridan both had a blinding game for Peel and combined a few times.
