I have a current opinion of him, but that may change depending on how he plays.
Anyway, back to Roberton, if the club arrange for the girlfriend's parents to be looked after over here in Perth, is it to be included in the salary cap?

These days, almost certainly yes. They've really tightening things in recent times.

Don't mean to be childish and say I told you so, but I told you so. I said we'd get nothing for him and that not many clubs would be interested. Well, it seems he will more than likely head for the draft. Highly over rated on here, not too surprised that he wasn't traded in the end.

Who here was adamant that we'd get something for him for you to have to resort to the 'naa naa nana naaaa' routine???

I really hope we keep this kid, he can play. Surely his Mrs can htfu and support the boy in his career. You'd think the club will help support them as a young family, plenty of other young mothers in the club. She wouldn't be the first girl to bring up a baby without mumsie at her beck and call. Better than living in Frankston and buying nappies on a rookie wage..

Although his decision making is obviously an issue.......AFL player, 21..........girls on tap......pregnant Mrs????

What's Roberton's value in the eyes of Lyon compared to Broughton? Considering his potential to play to tall, maybe a bit more?
Nah, sorry Sabre. In anyone's eyes on pure footy ability, Roberton is not a patch on GB. The lack of interest by other clubs is testament to that. I will not be at all surprised if he's left on the PSD shelf too. GB would've brought us an even lower pick too had our list managers put his name up two weeks ago instead of kneejerking him out in the last three days.

I can totally understand if he wants to go back to Victoria if his Misses is pregnant. But If there are no clubs interested in taking him, what's the point in moving back to Victoria with no job with a baby on the way?

To guess he would be on at least $150k a year, that's good coin for a 21 year old to look after a family.

Yep and I reckon that is what his decision will come down to. Stay here at some good coin for a young guy or back to Victoria on a rookie contract. Having experience myself in bringing a young one into the world on a low wage and now on a good wicket I'd recommend to Dylan not to make and snap decisions about leaving and to weigh it all up especially if it means dropping down to $50,000 (thereabouts i think) on a rookie contract.

His chances of being picked up improved a lot today with Melbourne's mass cull.
Would have thought we delist to free necessary spots to keep players who want to stay e.g crichton and he can enter in the draft surely dees pick him up if not and bond believe he's a keeper we will pick him with a late pick.

Roberton is very likely to find a home in the Pre-Season draft. But if no clubs signal their intentions to recruit him you would think he would re-sign. To hell with giving up your AFL dream for a baby! (Joking)

Lyon has always liked Roberton since the moment he was announced as our new coach.

I think he is a fringe player here and will be lucky to get 10 games a season.
He knows this so wanted to go elsewhere so he can possibly get more games, the baby stuff made the decision to leave a no brainer.
He probably overrated his value and now risks not getting picked up at all.

He has 1 good thing about his game.
The ability to run 10m then kick, thats zone breaking stuff, always backs himself in to take abit of a run before disposing of it.
His disposal is average, speed average, defensive ability average.
Was always going to be minimal interest.

Good luck to him.

A bit less I think. I don't think he's restricted to that though. As a 'de-listed rookie' he can set his price, but obviously there isn't a heap of interest so not sure if it will help him much this time around.

Isn't he contracted? Maybe we didn't think we were going to get value. I'm pretty sure there was some interest in him.
yeah, has another year to run. if i were him i'd stick around, try and make it work with the baby but try and raise my currency. if he can develop another weapon he'd be decent. certainly a lot of average players have found lifelines recently.

Who would you all rather delist over the next couple of years rather than him? You guys and girls are acting like he will have a 10 year career at Freo if he stays.
