Re: BFDL 1 Discussion Thread

Was interested to have a look at the average age (from Sep 08) of my team given it is a dynasty format. After 25 players, it comes out at 26.8, which is reasonably good i reckon. That includes outliers such as Kitna (35), Owens (34), J.Taylor (34) and Delhomme (33).

Would be interested to know how other teams matchup, gg's team would average about 7.6 years old i'd say.

Re: BFDL 1 Discussion Thread

The 'baggers GM's IQ would probably be comparitive to a 7.6 year olds mental capacity.
I am not going to disagree!

We all know you look at things very differently and i will never understand it. As it stands there arent many guys on your team i would swap guys on my team for. McFadden, Young, Bowe, Smith, Russell and Long would probably be the only guys i would do straight swaps for. I hadnt heard of half of them so i suppose that is why.

I don't think you should be deleted, as a backup it's always good to have one with such powers you have (BigFooty modship for a start, intimidating stuff).

Delroy is a good appointment though.

Hopefully everyone moves their arses and gets going with this.

Yeh, if they were available now i would probably look at them, but probably wouldnt swap them for what i already have at the respective positions, eg i would like Miller, but wouldnt give up Olsen or Scheffler for him, I like Landry but prefer my 3 etc

Re: BFDL III discussion thread

as a back-up i guess, but id still be like on someone's team and that can be off-putting.
but if i am still there just in case someone has to go on holidays, gets sick, or isnt around when something has to be done, i can always help out.
but delroy is the man. im only there as a bench warmer.

Miller? You dont want him? That guy will be the best TE of all current young TEs in the league. He will go to the pro-bowl numerous times starting this season. Mark my words. No homerism in that.
I like Scheffler and Olsen more, wouldnt do a straight swap for either, pro bowl this year, umm, good luck with that!

Re: BFDL 1 Discussion Thread

Best of young TEs. Easily. He's by far the most polished TE of anyone that's come out in the last 3 years. Most of them are blockers who arent real good receivers. Or great receivers who arent good blockers. Miller lacks a little speed but he has great hands and route running. As well, he's the best blocker of any TE drafted recently. And, above all that, his intangibles are second to none....heart, training, commitment, leadership, team spirit, character, etc.

People like that coupled with those on-field skills = pro-bowl. You can scoff, that's cool. But I'd wager you a 'contest' that he DOES go pro-bowl this year.

Another name destined for pro-bowl is Oren O'Neal....in a few seasons.

Gates, Gonzalez, Winslow, Heap, Clark

2 spots??, he'll be hard pressed to beat that lot

Maybe as a replacement, but certainly not the first named

As for best young TE, its your opinion, obviously through rose coloured glasses, you see him more then others so are obviously going to rate him higher.

Scheffler missed the first 4 games of 07, proceeded to catch 49 balls for 549 yards and 5 TDs. Even in his rookie season when he saw limited time and caught only 18 balls, he grabbed 4 scores. He has a great chemistry going with Cutler, 6-5, 4.5 40 yard dash speed. Cutler will use him plenty this year.

Re: BFDL 1 Discussion Thread

I see a lot of football...college and nfl, right across all teams. I dont watch only raider games and ESPN fantasy reports.
All the players I drafted here (and others that got taken i wanted) are players I watch a lot of.
No rose-colored glasses just because the raiders happened to draft certain good players.
Specifically....McFadden, Miller, O'Neal are some of the best draft picks theyve made in recent memory----objectively speaking.

I guess wait and see re: Miller as pro-bowl. But im confident it can happen as early as this season.

im confident he wont, Gates will get there again if he doesnt get injured, simply based on reputation, Winslow would be a massive chance, Clark should see decent numbers, Gonzo put up over 1000 yards again last season and led all TEs in receptions

He wont be a first choice, may get a gig due to injury or people preferring not to go, Scheffler is a better chance than Miller :thumbsu:

Re: BFDL 1 Discussion Thread

Regardless how it happens, thru injury etc, Miller will be there. But it wont be long before he is STAMPING himself as a top TE league-wide. You just dont think it'll happen, and/or dont see the 'specialness' in Miller. Ie, you'd be surprised if he did become a top TE. I feel you may be under-rating how big an explosion onto the scene he will have with each year he is in the league. Like this year and on he will make his name and everyone will talk about how good he is etc.

Olsen imo will be a letdown because he isn't "all that" that they made him out to be.
