Re: Dynasty #1 - DISCUSSION

Why are you trying to win me over? It's not me you have to get the passing vote from. It's up to the majority of MK I and II (as we're the ones drafted this far).

I'd support it if I found/heard no strong argument against it.

Because it isnt a big change, it is actually quite minor, people now are simply going to wary of any changes and their first reaction will be to say no without really looking at it

The current system is unequally weighted against LBs, simple as that

Anyway, im off to bed, might not be on till tomorrow arvo, could you direct people's attention this way and to my arguments FOR the minor change, cheers

I undserstand fully what you're saying dspeed but I'm against it because I want as many D players as possible available in FA for week by week adjustments. In fact it's why I didn't draft D early (thinking I could make weekly adjustments)

IMO, 3 kickers is too many, 5 TE's are definately too many, and I don't see anyone filling all those roster spots. So in reality list sizes are effectively not at 40 anyway because I doubt people will use or need those spots. Increasing the size of the LB's we can hold sort of guarantees more D players will be taken and I'd prefer less were taken.

If there's no players available in FA then it's going to be a pretty boring comp.

Good idea ST.

I can assure you gg didn't make the decision for any other reason than to improve the comp, so it would be disappointing with all the work you've put it in to see you pullout before we even get going.

Re: Dynasty #2 - DISCUSSION

Firstly I had no idea a QB could be used as an op and if you look at my picks it obvious I didn't. I found out about the rule this morning when the rules were changed.I thought it was 1 starting QB and 1 Backup Qb. GG def should have made this clearer Southern, but complaining over spilled milk isn't going to change anything. The drafts began without all participants fully understanding the rules and therefore to make it fair on all the rules were changed slightly. If your going to throw in the towel its your decision to make but you would be the only real looser if thats the way you went. You have a choice to play and have fun leave and take no part.I think its an obvious choice to just stay and compete anything can happen in fantasy just like life and there are no guarantees that the players we picked are going to fair better or worse than others.Take it as it comes and move on............

No moving on seriously!
ARE WE ALL DOWN FOR ANOTHER GO THIS SUNDAY NIGHT 8-11pm?

If so, I will do all I can to be here, but if gg is going to be online (he's going to love this) I'll send him my and fuey's picks, just in case I have another "sleep in". Its the 4th of July weekend here and I have an engagement party to attend as well so I'll prepare for the worst case scenario.Just make sure to voice your opinion on yes or no in this thread so I can see if we should go ahead or not. We do need to keep this moving, it's going to be training camp in about 10 minutes and b4 we know it pre season will have begun:thumbsu:

Hmmm, no more changes. Have not read through the Mk2 thread fully, but saw that some 'issues' had already arisen from the QB changes. Make use of waivers etc if you need to change LB's during the season.

I assume you are not 'forced' to take 3 kickers or 5 TE's.

Re: BFDL 1 Discussion Thread

Was interested to have a look at the average age (from Sep 08) of my team given it is a dynasty format. After 25 players, it comes out at 26.8, which is reasonably good i reckon. That includes outliers such as Kitna (35), Owens (34), J.Taylor (34) and Delhomme (33).

Would be interested to know how other teams matchup, gg's team would average about 7.6 years old i'd say.
Yeah, mines at 26.

No way would I draft 3 kickers and 5 TEs. Maybe 2 kickers and 3 TEs max.

I dunno about LBs. If it was 8 maximum I probably would have had a 5th by now. Doesnt really matter though I guess. Depends on others.

Re: Dynasty #1 - DISCUSSION

nice pick gg, considered him but in the end age turned me off a bit, not surprised he was picked around now, slightly surprised it was you given his age though

also, your ideas on LBs? Dont rate the position or think you can get just as good players later on?

Re: Dynasty #1 - DISCUSSION

Amobi Okoye, that fits the dynasty bill to a tee doesnt it. As young as they come in the NFL.
yes, but there are really very few DTs worthy of consideration in this league, he really isnt much of a starting option, great young player, but not too much fantasy value IMO, just look at his projections for proof of that, darnell dockett was the top DT last year and didnt even crack 100 points for the year

Am i correct in saying Marvin Harrison is still on the board?? Surely someone will bite on him.
He has been on my radar for a while, thing is i have Owens, Wayne and Colston, he is unlikely to get a start unless he really dominates, so he would probably just end up taking the spot of a younger guy, worth a shot with a late round flier by someone id say, went with him in the BFFFL, certainly worth the shot, you cant completely forget about a guy with that sort of record and chemistry with his QB

There were many young LBs and DEs that were taken before I got a chance to pick them.....they were on my preference list that I follow. Names like Ruud, D.Harris, and other names like Morrison, Howard, Henderson, Dumervil, etc etc etc.

I wanted to pounce on the offensive side mainly, stepped over a few times to get a few young ones (Long, Landry, Harvey), but I knew I couldn't have them all, so i went offense, and decided that around now and in waivers to pick up the bulk of my defensive players from seasoned vets and journeymen, and as the season progresses will focus more on the defensive side in identifying players to draft or get from waivers.

Im not really about youth only. There are plenty of offensive names I wanted too but couldnt have them all.

Re: Dynasty #1 - DISCUSSION

Michael Lewis is obviously a player manureid, one problem i can envisage though, ESPN doesnt have him listed for some reason, which will become an issue when gg goes to enter the draft results
