Hi bomber fans,

Great game today.

apologies if i am coming in too early but i am a massive fan of heppell (spelling). The kid is something special.

cheers guys

not too early good time i think ive had time to heal and drink.. alot if you came here straight after the game i would of told you to **** off and some bullshit about us having to play carlton and yous getting to play port but thats what it is complete bullshit collingwood were better congratulations to yous was a cracker of a game and you deserved to win.

now on topic i heard Leigh Matthews i think talking about his lack of leg speed but there is one thing that you dont test for in the draft and thats footy smarts and he has shit loads of it.

has copped a little bit recently for a few half hearted efforts this year, but he was very tough at the ball today, and went when he needed to.

Played a great game and one of the few who had a stand out performance. Was just relieving to see him around where the ball was going great smarts and a good set of hands on him.

Malthouse was saying it before it before the game that they might try & push him wide into space where his leg speed can be questioned.

Sheeds said at half time since Hirds retirement that Heppell is the closest thing he's seen to the great man. Not a bad wrap.

If he stuffs up which isn't a lot you just have to tell yourself that he's only a 2nd year player. Very easy to forget that with how composed he is out there.

I would like to see him lay a decent tackle though. it's all well & good to read the play and wait for it to come out, but when the games there to be won...... needs to throw himself at the game a little ala Wanganeen.

(still love him though)

He's clearly not strong enough yet to lay great tackles, although you could make the argument that he sometimes just tackles with the arms, rather than the whole body, which would improve his success rate.

He's copping much closer atention and is not getting as much space as he was last year, but he seems to be adjusting to it now. Always feel good when he has the ball in his hands.

I think you will find that on most occasions this happens, it is because there has been no one forward of himself to kick it to, so he hangs onto it longer rather than bomb it for a possible turn over.
Yeah fair enough, I LOL'ed when Garlett tried to lay that tackle on him and every Carlton supporter in the ground said BALL!!! and he just shrugged him off.

I'd love to see him play further up the ground, the forwards must love how he just hangs the ball in fron of them. He is by far the best and most composed kick in to the forward 50 in our side. However, for the moment I think he is needed down back. When we have Hibberd and Dempsey up and running it would be good to see him play a few games on the wing or half forward.

The tackling will come, he's put on quite a bit of muscle, but he's still pretty skinny. He just needs a few more kg's and a bit more strength and his tackling will be fine.
