Geelong started the season with wins against WCE, Essendon and both SA teams in Crows and Port. They suffered a close loss to Hawthorn in R3 the only mistake in a good season. They sit 4-1 and top spot on the ladder.

The Saints however had loses to Collingwood in R1 and Fremantle in R3 in dispiriting performances. They have bettered the Dogs in R2. And gained wins in the last two weeks in bottom placed teams Richmond and GWS respectively. They sit forth with a 3-2 record.

On Wednesday, both teams have a chance to prove they can beat good teams. The Saints, results permitting, can go level with the top teams, including Geelong. Geelong, also with results permitting, have the chance to go a game clear at the top.

A hard, fast, brutal clash under the Roof won’t be one to miss.

What a game. Saints came within two goals with three minutes left after trailing from early in the first and being 33 points down early in the last. A goal to Cookatoo with 45 seconds left was enough to see the Saints out before Henry put the cream on the cake. The final margin of 24 points not reflecting a hard fought game from both sides.
