Hello everyone and welcome to the massive R3 e-AFL clash between Carlton and the Western Bulldogs.
For those who are not yet aware, with the real season delayed, we will be recreating the 2020 AFL season in simulation. No footy on? Think again! With 153 games plus a full finals series coming up, we've well and truly got you covered over the next few months.
Massive clash this one, let's see how the two sides have fared to date...
The story so far...
CARLTON (0-2)
R1 - Carlton 9.10 (64) lost to North Melbourne 11.7 (73)
R2 - Collingwood 11.9 (75) defeated Carlton 11.8 (74)
The Blues have impressed thus far and have been hugely competitive to date, though a win eludes them.
A heartbreaking loss to the old enemy last outing, will it make them hungrier this time around, or will they lose confidence and fall away?
WESTERN BULLDOGS (1-1)
R1 - Port Adelaide 10.8 (68) lost to Western Bulldogs 11.6 (72)
R2 - Western Bulldogs 13.11 (89) lost to St. Kilda 22.18 (150)
After an impressive away victory to start the season, the Dogs were brought back down to earth with a thud, by a remarkably average St Kilda outfit.
Still, the 89 points they managed exceeds anything the Blues have put forward to this point in the season, which may give them some confidence, but it may be tough to turn things around so quickly after such a heavy loss.
The players to watch...
CARLTON
Matthew Kreuzer hasn't let a serious injury derail his season, showing terrific form early in the ruck.
The Blues have been terrific defensively, and it appears as though Nic Newman is enjoying the slow tempo build from the backline, taking plenty of marks.
So too is Patrick Cripps, Carlton's inspirational captain leading from the front, as always.
WESTERN BULLDOGS
Josh Bruce has had an impressive start to his career as a Dog, with 5 goals from his opening 2 matches.
With a simulation not taking into consideration the body type of the players, Tim English is among the league leaders for hitouts.
Leading from the front has been new skipper Marcus Bontempelli who is finding plenty of the ball and having a profound impact in the middle of the ground.
The stats that matter...
None.
So...
Who will win? Will the Blues open their account in e-season 2020, or will the Dogs correct course after last round's debacle?
Join us on Sunday to find out!
