Round 3 vs GWS Giants
After being decimated the round before against the reigning premiers in Adelaide, the Crows had another massive task on their hands and that this time was against the Grand Finalist of last season the GWS Giants at Giants stadium. Going to take on the Giants is a tough task in itself but after a crushing loss the week before, backing up against a fast and skilful opponent was going to be tough for the Crows.
The young squad of the Crows started well, and that's the mantra when it comes to playing an away game, take the crowd of it early and the Crows could certainly hold their heads high in that regard. 4.7 in the opening quarter was a great response, however they could have felt a little dampened by the fact the game should have been sewn up at quarter time. Despite being one of the exciting forward structures in the competition, the Crows backline kept the Giants to just 3 goals up until half time.
The Crows weren't going to make the same mistake as last week with having a lead into half time, they did produce a better 2nd half and came out victorious against a quality opposition on their home deck. The Crows were winners on the day by 8 points which leaves the club 2-1 to start the e-AFL season.
For the visitors, Paul Seedsman was once again one of the Crows best players with 23 disposals and a goal from the wing, defender turned midfielder Jake Kelly had arguably one of his best matches of his career picking up 23 disposals and played a few minutes in the ruck relieving O'Brien and finished with 9 hitouts. However despite the performances of some of the midfielders for the Crows it was a young forward who stole the show. Darcy Fogarty kicked a career high 6 goals following the 5 he kicked against the Eagles in Perth last year. Fogarty dominated the Giants defence and was the match winner on the day.

Round 4 vs Geelong Cats
Our round 4 home game against the Cats should probably be never talked about again. After such a team bonding victory in round 3 against the reigning grand finalists in the Giants by 8 points and with a break out game from full-forward Darcy Fogarty, the Crows went into the match against the Cats over-confident and they fell at the sword to the Cats.
The Cats led for the entire contest and had all the answers every time we threatened to break the game open. We continued our W,L,W,L record for the season with a 32 point defeat to Geelong which seems to be a common occurrence.
We made a heap of changes to the side for the contest against the Cats so maybe that had a little influence on the result as the team only kicked 10 goals for the game while some of our bigger performers had down days. For the Crows, Brad Crouch was our best on the day through the midfield capturing his 2019 form again with 21 disposals, 8 tackles and a goal next to his name in a work horse like performance. Brodie Smith was the next best in the disposals market with 17 disposals and 10 marks for the day while we had plenty of passengers on the day. Darcy Fogarty continued his stellar form for the season with another 3 goals after his bag of 6 the week before while Shane McAdam (1st game of the season) kicked 2.4 as the only other multiple goal scorer for the home side.
For the Cats, Captain Joel Selwood (23 disposals and a goal), Mitch Duncan (19 disposals and 14 hitouts) were Geelong's best players with Tom Hawkins leading from the front with 4 majors.
This takes the Crows total to 2-2 for the season with a W-L-W-L record to start the season. Up next, they travel to the Harbour city to take on the Swans

Round 5 vs Sydney Swans
After a tough loss against the Cats last round, the Crows traveled to the Harbour City in round 5 to take on the Swans in what what a wet slog. Rain absolutely bucketed down all night in Sydney which saw a low scoring slug fest. Only 16 goals were scored between both sides with the Swans running away 27 point victors. The Crows scored their lowest tally for the season with only 42 points scored with 6 goals scored and they also had 2 goalless quarters such was the dominance from the Swans outfit.
The loss for the Crows is their 3rd for the season and 2nd in a row after the loss to the Cats last round, so the selectors for the Crows will need to re-think their selections and see if they can tinker with something.
During the match against the Swans, there were still plenty of winners on the ground, particularly in the midfield however it was the forward 50 entries that limited the Crows in attack. For the visitors, ruckman Reilly O'Brien was the highest ball winner on the ground with 23 disposals and also drifted forward to be a rare goal scorer. Brad Crouch continued his form from last week to have 22 disposals from 100% game time on the ground while his brother has returned back to some form with 19 disposals and 12 marks in just his second match for the season. Rory Sloane (18 disposals, 1 goal) and Paul Seedsman (17 disposals and 10 marks) rounded out the Crows ball winners on the day.
Up forward there wasn't much to celebrate as only 6 goals were kicked on the day. The Crows had 6 single goal scorers with no-one kicking multiple goals for the club.
For the Swans, Lance Franklin had an almost day with 1.4 whilst playing up forward before being pushed to defence to try and find some form. Ruckman Sam Naismith kicked 3 as the focal point up forward while Tom McCartin kicked 2.

After 5 games in the e-AFL season, I have attached our player total statistics after the match against the Swans. As mentioned earlier, Paul Seedsman is having a ripping season with 99 disposals from 5 games and leads all comers in disposals while hot on his heel after the last 2 weeks with 22+ disposals is 2019 club champion, Brad Crouch.
Young gun, Darcy Fogarty currently leads the goal kicking with 14 majors from 5 matches with the next best Lachlan Murphy kicking 5 goals which he booted in a single match in round 1.

Junior stars as Crows down wasteful Demons
Exciting youngster Wayne Milera was released into the midfield for the Crows on Wednesday against the Demons at the Adelaide Oval and 'Junior' as he's known down at the club had a breakout game dominating the Demons midfield with his pace and class around the ball. Milera and Brad Crouch combined for a total of 45 disposals (Milera 21 & Brad Crouch 24) to lead the Crows away to a solid victory at home downing the Demons by 38 points to take the season win tally to 3 after 6 rounds.
The Demons came out strong in the contest winning the first quarter 5.3 to 3.1 but the first 2 goals of the second term belonged to the Crows and Paul Seedsman to bring them back within 2 points and from that moment, the Crows never looked back and dominated the contest from there. Young forward Darcy Fogarty continued his stellar season kicking another 5 goals in the Crows victory taking his season tally to 19 and again was the Crows most prominent forward on the day. He was well supported by a couple of midfielders, Paul Seedsman and Brad Crouch both kicking multiple goals for the match.
As mentioned earlier, the Crows midfield stood up when it mattered in this contest and against one of the hardened midfields in the competition they stacked up with some of the best from the Demons. Brad Crouch was the Crows best with 24 disposals, 7 tackles and 2 goals while Wayne Milera had 21 disposals, a game-high 11 tackles and kicked a goal played 100% game time through the middle. Chayce Jones was another young Crow who stood up playing through the middle finishing the day with 32 disposals a career best for the Crows 1st round selection in the 2018 draft.
The win against the Demons takes the Crows season tally to 3-3 after 6 rounds and sitting just inside the top 8 at this stage of the season.
