Whats a mystery box??

Few benefits of say Gumtree - you are able to view the product before purchasing, you are able to haggle them down from their desired price rather than bid beyond it and notwithstanding that save money on postage.

With eBay you can buy brand new items such as electronics, sporting goods… anything really from the US or UK for 2/3 of the price and they generally come within 5 days

I wasn't suggesting Gumtree as the only alternative - if we're talking new items, there are better deals to be had than from EBay

You just described a garage sale
How can you source specific products your are seeking efficiently with garage sales?

Use eBay and Gumtree quite often. Depends on what you're looking for. Gumtree is great for second hand local stuff. I bought 7 Ikea Detolf glass cabinets, which cost $160+ new for no more than $50 a piece. One was as low as $15.

eBay is great for anything from overseas, but have nabbed a bargain on there from time to time locally.
