Am thinking about giving these a crack as the darts are killing my teeth, and their cost is killing my wallet.

Price wise they are cheaper than smokes, (and patches/gum), they don't have the carcenogens that are destroying several parts of my body, and I can still have the thing I find hardest to give up about smoking. The actual process of having a ciggie.

That's what it looks like from someone who hasn't used them and knows little about them.

Just wondering if anyone here has tried them (or knows anyone who has), and whether they are worthwhile as an alternative to smoking (and as a possible quit aid)?

have tried them, they didn't work real well for me. found myself wanting the real thing more often than not

in saying that, there are some pretty funky flavours you can get, recommend the cherry flavour if you can get your hands on it

Are you still a smoker?

yes i am

i have quit a few times, once for 2.5 years. i found carrying around a normal drinking straw and having a puff on that when i needed one was a good way to kick the addiction

Hit up the doc for some Champix. Taste that sweet government subsidy. Works a treat.

I think I should just look at some relaxation/meditation courses.....lol

g'day gents.

still a smoker myself, will have to remedy that soon as I have a baby on the way in September and the ol' lady is ragging on me big time.

I have tried the e-cigarettes (didnt know that's what they were called to be honest), I reckon they were ok; as you said Kris, it allows you to still participate in all the motions of smoking, even gives you that nicotine hit - I thought they were ok ...

Also, Champix (by prescription) is really good, I know of a few people who successfully quit with the help of these tablets.
I cut down to maybe 2-3 a day quite easily on these - side-effects can be quite strong though, I felt really sick when I would have them in the mornings ..

Not real keen on Champix. Prescription drugs tend not to sit well with me.

Me neither. Most docs (that aren't getting kickbacks) will tell you there are some very real mental health risks associated with them.

I'm gonna give it another crack this week. Was just going to grab some patches, but am thinking I might supplement them with hypnosis. I tried it years ago to give smoking choof and it didn't work at all, but i figure it can't hurt.

Fair enough. But it works, so if all else fails it sure is worth the risk. I tried the other things, patches, gums etc. I didn't try acupuncture or hypnotism, assumed they were both bullshit. Since about two weeks after I started with the champix a few months ago I've only smoked when drinking and not a large amount. Shit works.

Know a couple who have tried it. They only got the cheap versions, not the good brands and all that. Seemed like the regular smokers (in comparison to casual smokers) didn't like them, but the casuals loved them.

I would link to another forum that has a huge discussion on this, as well as discounts and all that ... but don't think linking to other forums is allowed
