E-sport at Paris Olympic 2024?

Look like they really want to put some e-sport at the Paris Olympic, somebody have any idea about what are they talking about?? are we going to see some geeks running with their smartphone to catch some pokemon?
I also read that the next Asian Games, will host some e-sport in their next edtion, South Korean will certainly take some medals.
Next Olympic will be in Japan but no video games in the program.

There wouldn't be many worse games to use in a competitive environment than Mario Kart.

The game actively boosts those further back in races as a leg up. Which pretty much goes against a best of the best set up that the Olympics seems to embody.

I could just imagine first place turns the corner on the final straight destined for a gold medal... BAMN blue shell, bamn red shelll slide back to 10th and the person in last the whole race wins the gold. Every gold would be a Bradbury.

Looks like I can add it to the short list of sports - mostly equestrian events - at the Olympics that I don't bother watching.

I think the main problem is that young people spend lot of time playing or watching video game on youtube, and are not interested in watching Olympics events. And IOC don't care at all about sport they just make business, and want to catch the young people to get more from sponsor.
So e-sport or anything else can be good if they can make money.
