For North, I reckon it'd be something like this:

B: G.Archer - M.Martyn - J. Blakey
HB: D.Laidley - J.McCartney - B.Pickett
C: W.Schwass - A.Stevens - D.King
HF: B.Allison - W.Carey - W.Abraham
F: D.Crocker - J.Longmire - A.Rock
Foll: C.McKernan - P.Bell - B.Harvey
Inter: M.Roberts - C.Sholl - A.Simpson - R.Smith
Emer: I.Fairley - A.McAdam - R.Scott

Trickiest position was centre half back, and while Flossy Fairley gave us many good years there, I think McCartney is the better centre half back. Also hard to pick to pick two half back flankers out of Laidley, Pickett, King, and Schwass, but the latter two have had many fine games on the wing, so they go there. Most other players pretty much pick themselves, but David Calthorpe was very stiff to miss out altogether. ;-)

Self-proclaimed Studmuffin Ricky O picks himself of this 1993 finals campaign.

Shinner - I take it that Cartman comment was intended as sarcasm...

HB: K.Hinkley, T.McGrath, M.Mansfield
C: P.Riccardi, P.Couch, L.Pickering
HF: R.Burns, B.Stoneham, P.Lynch
F: B.Brownless, G.Ablett, A.Bews
R: J.Barnes, G.Hocking, M.Bairstow
I: G.Kilpatrick, S.King, D.Mensch, T.Poole

NOTE: 8 players came to Geelong as trades from other clubs.

Stoneham and Lynch both included on best possible form as both have been injured most of the decade.

Speaking of trades GoCatsGo, here's a team from players (with the odd position fiddled) that had played at North at some time during their career before moving onto other clubs. Kilpatrick was once North U19s captain and I think Bienke was on the North supplementary list at some stage. The Cats have done well out of North and other ex-North players like Darren Steele and Leigh Tudor also played for the Cats:

B: G.Freeborn (Coll) - P.Mann (Freo) - B.Sholl (Geel)
HB: A.Contessa (Dogs) - T.McGrath (Geel) - W.Schwass (Swans)
C: L.Pickering (Geel) - G.Kilpatrick (Geel) - A.Clarkson (Melb)
HF: A.Rock (Hawks) - M.Stevens (Adel) - S.Anderson (Freo)
F: S.Welsh (Adel) - C.Mooney (Geel) - B.Beinke (Adel)
Foll: L.Vidovic (St.K) - J.Romero (Dogs) - A.Libratore (Dogs)
Inter: B.Allison (Swans) - T.Nicols (Rich) - J.McCarthy (Fitzroy) - K.Bardsley (St.K)
Coach: R.Eade
Assistants: M.Thompson, D.Crocker.

For Collingwood...

B: G Crosisca G Pert S Burns
HB: S Russell C Kelly G Wright
C: G Brown T Shaw M McGuane
HF: C Tarrant A Rocca S Moorwood
F: Daicos S Rocca P Williams
Foll: Monkhorst Buckley T Francis
Inter: ???

Geez, I could do with some help here. I'm sure there are players I've forgotten, but I currently can't even fill the side, let alone do it well.

I think this team is summed up by the fact I sat staring at an empty half forward line for 10 minutes and couldn't think of anyone to fit into it.

Notes: Monkhorst and Sav are in based on form from 1995 and before.
Daicos, T Francis for early 90's.

Any other Collingwood supporters want to lend a hand?

Matt

I'll give a dishonourable mention to Garlick, useless.

Kappler and Heuskes are unlucky to not get a mention.

Goodes at CHF

Shinboners, I have been having a think and I can't improve on your team but if McAdam is good enough to make emergency maybe he should be in the team, ahead of winnie?

His First Three Games were very SPECIAL. If he had of broken his leg after the third game, they would be saying he was better then Coleman.

drakey salmon was a ruckmen at hawthorn so he hold the ruck position in their team of the decade, but not so at essendon
he was never a ruckman, he was a forward, and a great one.
barnes shouldnt be in ess best team of the decade, he only played for one season, somerville is the only one who played consistantly in the ruck for the 90's

dutchman i totally agree with your opinion on timmy
when i picked my team i chose players that performed for most of the decade, thats why rama, johnsons etc missed out, maybe next decade

Rooboy 96

Hardwick would definitely get a gurnesy in the North old boys team. I didn't know that he played with North U19s with Pagan before going to Essendon. Drop Stuart Anderson who did very little at Freo.

McAdam vs Abraham? McAdam was a freak, but once the opposition sussed him out, he did nothing. It's a shame because he could've been as good as O'Loughlin or Farmer. Abraham isn't as talented as McAdam, but he's more consistent and he'll do the one percenters.

For Hawthorn take the 1991 GF side (Plus Dipper) then see if you can fit Fish, Dutchy, Croady, Haystacks, Thommo and Shane in somewhere

A bit academic really as some were the best in the eighties and some will be the best in the 'Naughties'

Still with one day and three night flags our decade wasn't so bad.
